I’ve already expressed my thoughts about this in full elsewhere, but the long and short of it is that the X2 Superstrike launch now stings a little because it’s been quickly rendered all but obsolete.

The flip side to this is that while the X3 Superstrike is great, it doesn’t exactly fill me with excitement because I already got excited over the technology when it was actually new back in February. Which means that despite me thinking the X3 Superstrike is fantastic, I’m actually more excited about some of the other products Logitech is releasing: the keyboard and the mouse pad.

For anyone who knows me, the fact that I’d be keen on a mouse pad will be no surprise: I’m PC Gamer’s resident connoisseur of all things rodent surfaces. And Logitech’s new one, the G Pro X Control, is even more specifically my kind of jam because, as the name suggests, it’s a control pad. I compared different control pads recently, as the slow but consistent movement across them is very beneficial for tactical shooters like Counter-Strike 2, my main game.

At the time of writing, I’ve only had my hands on the G Pro X Control for a couple of hours, and that’s all been spent working rather than gaming, so I can’t draw any conclusions yet. But so far it seems pretty decent, if not quite as ‘slow’ as some other control options on the market—but that’s less of a negative and more of a personal preference. Plus, things will surely change after I’ve broken it in a bit.

I wasn’t massively excited about the keyboard before I tried it out for myself, especially because my last experience with a Logitech keyboard wasn’t great, to put it mildly, mostly because of the switches it came with. But as soon as I unboxed the company’s new G Pro X2 Rapid, I knew this would be a very different experience. I’m not exaggerating when I say that after putting the keyboard and giant wrist rest on my desk and typing, I exclaimed out loud to myself: “Yeah! This is nice!“

The Hall effect keys feel fantastic, with a creamy and slightly muted ‘thock’ to them, and there’s nary a wobble to be felt, apart from a very slight one from the spacebar. The keycap texture is also lovely, too—a little rougher and more textured than most others you get. There’s plenty more about it that I’m loving, but you’ll have to wait for my review for the rest, primarily because I don’t want to over-hype something until I’ve done more extensive testing and compared it to some alternatives.

Logitech has also announced a headset, which I haven’t tried out and which I’m not as fussed about. It’s the G Pro X 3 Lightspeed. The two main differences compared to the previous X 2 Lightspeed are 20 extra hours of battery life—now up to 70 hours—and a much better mic. I heard the latter on a preview call with Logitech and I can confirm the difference is impressive. But it’s still just a mic, and it seems like more of an iterative upgrade, just like the X3 Superstrike.

I’m happy, though. I’m currently sitting with a G Pro X3 Superstrike, G Pro X2 Rapid, and G Pro X Control in front of me, and all three feel wonderful to use. Nothing anywhere as revolutionary as the X2 Superstrike was back in February, but very pleasant all the same.

Source

Pro X3 Superstrike Analogue switches 135-hour battery life Refined balance $200 Pro X2 Rapid Hall effect Creamy sound Big wrist rest $230 Pro X Control Thick 460 x 400 mm Slow for control $59 Pro X 3 Lightspeed Great mic 70-hour battery life 50 mm graphene drivers $250 Logitech has just announced a whole range of gear, including the Logitech G Pro X3 Superstrike—essentially a buffed version of the X2 that launched just a few months ago.
