CD Projekt has a lot going on these days: The Witcher 4<\/a>, Cyberpunk 2<\/a>, a new Witcher 3 expansion<\/a> and remaster<\/a>, a remake of the original Witcher<\/a>, probably some other stuff I’ve either forgotten or don’t know about, and a couple of long-simmering mystery projects that are still only known by their codenames, Sirius and Hadar. <\/p>\n

You’d be forgiven for forgetting about them, given their low profile and drawn-out development times, but in today’s H1 investors call<\/a>, CD Projekt’s vice president of investor relations Karolina Gna\u015b reassured everyone that they’re still happening\u2014just not anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Asked about Sirius, Gna\u015b mentioned the recent cuts to the development team<\/a>, saying\u2014as CD Projekt did when the layoffs happened\u2014that the changes were made to meet “the current needs of the project.”<\/p>\n

“Pre-production is ongoing, and at this stage we are focused on testing different solutions and ideas we develop,” Gna\u015b said. “This project is very different from our other projects because it’s focused on multiplayer. So there’s a lot of learning and testing in this particular one.”<\/p>\n

Sirius first came to light in 2021, when CD Projekt acquired The Molasses Flood<\/a>, known for The Flame in the Flood<\/a>, to work on a new game eventually revealed to be based on The Witcher. But the project ran into trouble a couple years later, and was paused and rebooted<\/a>; in 2025, CD Projekt’s plan to maintain The Molasses Flood as an effectively independent studio also came to an end<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite how little we know about Sirius, we know even less about Hadar. It’s an all-new property, not based on The Witcher or Cyberpunk, although it will be similar to the extent that it aims to deliver “an emotional, open world experience<\/a>.” But aside from that? It’s “progressing dynamically<\/a>,” whatever that means, but it’s definitely not progressing rapidly: It too has been in the works since 2021<\/a>, and Gna\u015b said it remains “in the concept phase,” essentially where it was five years ago.<\/p>\n

But it does sound like things might be ready to start picking up speed. “We currently have over 30 people and expect to hire more, up to 50 developers by the end of this year,” Gna\u015b continued. “Right now the team is mostly focused on testing different approaches and ideas, and prototyping some gameplay elements.” And then, with an amusing note of finality: “This is it.”<\/p>\n

Frankly, I’m not too bothered. I am genuinely curious about Hadar, because it’s an original thing; Sirius, not so much, because multiplayer’s not really my bag and a Witcher game that not all Geralt all the time<\/em> is fundamentally less interesting to me anyway. But CD Projekt’s got enough big stuff cooking I already know about, so if it wants to horse around with these other things until 2033 (or whatever\u2014I have no insights here, 2033 is just suitably far off), that’s fine by me.<\/p>\n
