Creative freedom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a recent interview with\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/press-start.com.au\/news\/playstation\/2021\/03\/23\/deathloops-developers-were-surprised-by-xboxs-acquisition-of-bethesda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Press Start<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>Deathloop director Dinga Bakaba (who you may remember from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/video-interview\/2021\/03\/10\/80-rapid-fire-questions-about-deathloop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our hilarious Rapid Fire video<\/a>) and art director Sebastien Mitton opened up about the positive impact the Xbox Game Pass has had on the team.\u00a0Following ZeniMax&#8217;s acquisition, which includes studios like Bethesda, id Software, and Arkane, the developer revealed that the news was a shocking one but welcome.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was pretty surprising, I would say,\u201d Bakaba told the site, but he added that this move made sense. A big reason behind this being a good fit, according to the game director, is that the studio is incredibly creative and driven. The team prides itself on creating unique content, which is evident with prior titles like Prey and Dishonored. While Xbox has had some major downfalls through the years, Phil Spencer&#8217;s leadership has been a positive force for the gaming company, bringing it back where it belongs: with the gamers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to play to its strengths, Xbox has made a drastic change in its overall strategy in recent years, something we broke down on a deeper level\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/opinion\/2020\/09\/15\/how-next-gen-effectively-killed-console-wars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with our analysis here<\/a>. While there are still logistic concerns about profit with the freebie aspect of day one launch titles and a rotating library of free games, there are many positives that come with this focus as well. This includes the philosophy Xbox has adopted regarding a more &#8220;hands-off&#8221; approach to the studios it has acquired.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/03\/24\/deathloop-dev-opens-up-on-how-xbox-game-pass-gives-arkane-creative-freedom\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to watch embedded media<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to be apart of the Xbox Gamepass ecosystem makes things a bit different for us because we can occupy a space in that service, and we will continue to make the kind of games that we make and make them well,\u201d said Bakaba when talking about this particular aspect of the acquisition.\u00a0\u201cIf you\u2019ve looked on social media, you\u2019ll see that games like\u00a0Prey\u00a0and\u00a0Dishonored 1\u00a0and\u00a02\u00a0coming to Xbox Game Pass, a lot of people are saying that you need to play these games and have no excuse not to, so it\u2019s been very encouraging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a service that will allow us to remain creative and have the audience and build that relationship over time, and that\u2019s really exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t played the aforementioned Prey and Dishonored games, do it.
