How do we answer for the likes of Old School RuneScape player Bosby, who this week entered the annals of history after successfully maxing out his fishing skill using the least efficient possible method in a grind that took over two years?<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-card\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/2007scape\/comments\/1vikp37\/after_2_years_and_3_months_i_reached_level_99\">After 2 years and 3 months, I reached level 99 fishing catching only shrimp and anchovies.<\/a><figcaption><cite>\u00a0from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/2007scape\">r\/2007scape<\/a><\/cite><\/figcaption><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/embed.redditmedia.com\/widgets\/platform.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Bosby first reported his achievement three days ago on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/2007scape\/s\/Rw2wCG2jzq\" target=\"_blank\">\/r\/2007scape subreddit<\/a>. There, he presented a screenshot of the moment when, after 27 months of grinding skill experience, his account OnlyShrimp99 attained level 99 in the fishing skill by exclusively fishing at the lowest-level, least-rewarding fishing spots in the game.<\/p>\n<p>In his Reddit post, Bosby said he &#8220;started out thinking it would just be something funny to do and ended up having the dedication to see it through.&#8221; After Bosby took up the task on May 11, 2024, the grind demanded a total of 4,304 hours, during which he caught 275,196 raw shrimp and 257,064 raw anchovies\u2014collectively worth approximately 9.5 million gold using current OSRS market prices.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, there is absolutely no reason for Bosby, or anyone else, to do this. It&#8217;s just, you know, a lot of clicking, with being able to say you did it the only reward.
