This debut was the biggest in Asia this year, raising $8.6 billion and seeing shares in the company surge by 466%. In terms of valuation, that places CXMT right at the top of China&#8217;s stock market.<\/p>\n<p>CXMT&#8217;s market capitalisation is now about $487.73 billion. Major player Tencent still outpaces it at a little over $500 billion, but that makes CXMT&#8217;s stock market debut no less show-stealing. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/china-memory-chipmaker-cxmt-set-shanghai-debut-after-asias-biggest-ipo-2026-07-26\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to Reuters<\/a>, the memory manufacturer is now a more valuable listed company than even the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.<\/p>\n<p>Even before this news, CXMT was already one to watch; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/so-this-is-why-component-makers-have-started-validating-their-products-for-chinese-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\">the company&#8217;s plans to massively ramp up DRAM<\/a> manufacturing capacity in the midst of the RAMpocalypse has made its products <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/multiple-motherboard-and-pc-component-makers-move-forward-with-chinese-made-memory-validation\/\" target=\"_blank\">an appealing option for a number of PC component makers<\/a>. Furthermore, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/the-fourth-biggest-memory-manufacturer-could-break-into-america-soon-and-chances-are-youve-never-heard-of-it\/\" target=\"_blank\">recent reports suggest that CXMT is planning to expand overseas into the US market<\/a> at some point in the future.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height: 250px;\">\n<div class=\"kwizly-quiz kwizly-XZKx1e\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <script src=\"https:\/\/kwizly.com\/embed\/XZKx1e.js\" async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>CXMT&#8217;s rise may be far from unstoppable, though. Trinity Synergy Investments&#8217; hedge fund manager Yuan Yuwei told Reuters, &#8220;The stock is too \u200cexpensive and smells \u2060of speculation.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>CXMT&#8217;s stock closed at 49 yuan, after reaching an intraday high of 55.03 yuan. Compared to the stock&#8217;s sale price of 8.66 yuan per share, that&#8217;s a sharp uptick. This appetite is unsurprising during these times of memory shortage. But given the current supply crisis is being fuelled by outsized demand from the AI industry, it&#8217;s hard not to wonder whether this excitement will find itself confined to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/ai\/i-know-a-bubble-when-i-see-one-us-senators-grave-warning-about-the-ai-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\">bubble<\/a>. Looking at the &#8216;big 3&#8217;, SK hynix is currently enjoying a market capitalisation of over $777 billion, Micron has $1.04 <em>trillion<\/em>, and Samsung has over $1.135 trillion at time of writing. Even so, Micron has reportedly been looking over its shoulder, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/micron-pushes-us-congress-crack-down-chip-tool-sales-chinese-rivals-sources-say-2026-04-22\/\" target=\"_blank\">urging US lawmakers to curb CXMT&#8217;s access to chipmaking equipment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bubble or no bubble (though, if you&#8217;re asking me, probably definitely a bubble), CXMT will continue to be the name on the industry&#8217;s lips\u2014especially as it&#8217;s seemingly found at least one powerful ally. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/chinas-memory-chip-makers-ride-ai-boom-new-power-us-scrutiny-2026-07-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sources claim that Apple has recently sought assurances<\/a> that the memory manufacturer won&#8217;t be placed on the US Department of Commerce&#8217;s &#8216;Entity List&#8217;. Having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/the-ram-crisis-comes-for-apple-mac-and-ipad-prices-jacked-up-by-hundreds-as-company-says-we-have-never-seen-a-component-price-increase-this-much-this-quickly\/\" target=\"_blank\">raised Mac and iPad prices due to runaway memory costs<\/a>, it&#8217;s little wonder why CXMT may have caught Apple&#8217;s eye.
