According to sources close to the matter, branching out overseas is part of a longer-term plan for the Chinese firm that has swiftly become the fourth-biggest maker of memory in the world.<\/p>\n<p>CXMT has been on my radar lately as multiple motherboard and PC component makers have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/multiple-motherboard-and-pc-component-makers-move-forward-with-chinese-made-memory-validation\/\" target=\"_blank\">made moves to validate its memory for their products<\/a>. Considering the news that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/so-this-is-why-component-makers-have-started-validating-their-products-for-chinese-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\">CXMT is reportedly massively ramping up its DRAM capacity<\/a> during these times of memory shortage, it&#8217;s not hard to see why.<\/p>\n<p>However, we&#8217;re still a ways off from seeing CXMT DRAM become more readily available in the US; in the nearer term, CXMT will have to navigate both intense domestic demand in China, as well as Western competitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/micron-pushes-us-congress-crack-down-chip-tool-sales-chinese-rivals-sources-say-2026-04-22\/\" target=\"_blank\">Micron urging US lawmakers to curb the company&#8217;s access to key equipment<\/a>, plus a sword of Damocles in the form of a spot on the Commerce Department&#8217;s trade blacklist (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/chinas-memory-chip-makers-ride-ai-boom-new-power-us-scrutiny-2026-07-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height: 250px;\">\n<div class=\"kwizly-quiz kwizly-XpoJbO\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <script src=\"https:\/\/kwizly.com\/embed\/XpoJbO.js\" async><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/memory\/the-ram-crisis-comes-for-apple-mac-and-ipad-prices-jacked-up-by-hundreds-as-company-says-we-have-never-seen-a-component-price-increase-this-much-this-quickly\/\" target=\"_blank\">Not even Apple has been safe from the effects of the memory crisis<\/a>, and has been keen to seek assurances CXMT won&#8217;t be placed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/cfr\/text\/15\/appendix-Supplement_No_4_to_part_744\" target=\"_blank\">the US&#8217; &#8220;Entity List<\/a>&#8220;. Even with such a powerful supporter looking to buy its wares, what remains is still a challenging geopolitical obstacle course for CXMT to navigate.<\/p>\n<p>Still, CXMT may have sufficient weight behind it to bulldoze through. For one thing, the firm saw $7.5 billion in revenue in Q1, which both represented <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.biggo.com\/news\/wALqPp4B2jrwCtglaWIF\" target=\"_blank\">a 719% year-on-year increase<\/a> <em>and <\/em>erased six months of losses. The company also enjoyed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/chinas-changxin-memory-technologies-sets-july-27-listing-date-sources-say-2026-07-14\/\" target=\"_blank\">Asia&#8217;s largest IPO of the year, raising $8.6 billion<\/a>. CXMT has chosen not to relent, with the situation finally coming to a head on one of its factory floors in June. Sources say a number of engineers were carrying out equipment maintenance when CXMT ordered them to leave its factory. Why? Because the engineers hailed from a vendor with extremely close ties to Huawei.<\/p>\n<p>Though the company continues to work with Huawei, the engineers have not been allowed back. Huawei also remains without recourse to challenge CXMT&#8217;s prices, just going to show how much power the memory manufacturer wields at home.
