An early access release expected later that year didn&#8217;t come together, and updates on Steam have been few and far-between since then.<\/p>\n<p>But today we got the update we&#8217;ve been waiting for\u2014developer Replicant D6 announced that Agent 64: Spies Never Die is set to launch on August 11.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"high\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/AoDQu8sCcLQ\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;After a grueling five and a half year of work, I can finally put a final release date down,&#8221; the dev wrote in a short-but-sweet update on <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/news\/app\/1574480\/view\/688636898237744833\" target=\"_blank\">Steam<\/a>. &#8220;Everything is almost ready and set. Let&#8217;s make it worth it!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There was no multiplayer in Agent 64 when we first laid eyes on it, but that changed a year later when Replicant D6 announced plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/news\/app\/1574480\/view\/3702578812078435032\" target=\"_blank\">split-screen multiplayer<\/a>, and then again in 2025 when <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/news\/app\/1574480\/view\/525354595604498729\" target=\"_blank\">online multiplayer<\/a> was revealed. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a big deal: Multiplayer was a major part of GoldenEye&#8217;s success, so it was a bit surprising that such a spot-on remake intended to move ahead without it. Replicant D6 said earlier this year, however, that &#8220;singleplayer remains the main focus of the game,&#8221; which as a fan of singleplayer shooters I take as good news.<\/p>\n<p>Another big deal: The Agent 64 singleplayer demo that was slated to be pulled earlier this month is being left online until August 9, just a couple days ahead of the game&#8217;s release, so you still have time to give it a rip.
