After Traffic and Breaking Bad used it for scenes set there it became know as “the Mexican filter”, though it’s sometimes used for scenes set in South Asia or anywhere a bit tropical. You may recognize it as “the piss filter” that stained the original incarnation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It’s the yellow gradient that’s usually intended to make things look warm, and it’s not to everyone’s taste. Like piss, I guess.<\/p>\n

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the latest videogame to fall under the stream, making Edward Kenway look a bit more tanned and the waters look a bit more green. I didn’t think it was particularly excessive until I saw some before and after screenshots with it removed, and yeah, it does seem a bit dehydrated actually.<\/p>\n

These images come courtesy of Blu, a modder who has cooked up a reshade called ACBlackFlag Natural Colors<\/a>: “A simple reshade preset that removes the ugly yellow filter from the game and corrects oversaturated colors.”<\/p>\n

You’ll need the latest version of Reshade<\/a> to install it. While you’re at it, the ACBlackFlagFix<\/a> will let you uncap the cutscene framerate, set cloth to animate at 60 fps, and remove pillarboxing, while Fast Launch<\/a> will get you through those annoying startup videos at a rate of knots.<\/p>\n
