Also, the long runtime and repeated prog riffs make this one feel particularly well-suited for in-game use.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/moUM06QOoZk\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The tasty irony of it all is that Doom&#8217;s own iconic soundtrack was, itself, basically just classic metal music remixed in the Doom soundfont. Some of them sample from a number of sources, but others are basically just 1:1 midi recreations. Take the track &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rLvSD5HuIcE&#038;list=RDrLvSD5HuIcE&#038;start_radio=1\" target=\"_blank\">Sign of Evil<\/a>,&#8221; for example, which is pretty much &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OfR6_V91fG8&#038;list=RDOfR6_V91fG8&#038;start_radio=1\" target=\"_blank\">Starless<\/a>&#8221; by King Crimson. No shade to Doom composer Robert Prince, it was sick as hell. The &#8217;90s could be so beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>Back to Jim &#8220;Aku&#8221; Brimstone and his Music Dungeon: his first Doom soundfont experiment appears to have been a cover of Nirvana&#8217;s &#8220;Something in the Way&#8221; in 2023. It was cleverly titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sdbSsmXltzE\" target=\"_blank\">Doomguy in the Way<\/a>,&#8221; though Jim appears to have abandoned such puns in the titles for discovery&#8217;s sake, leaving that work to frequent cover artist collaborator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCoyo1T3UoW7XHXSdnCS3mXg\" target=\"_blank\">Reddo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jim&#8217;s made so many of these, it&#8217;s hard to pick favorites. I love his recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TWbO5-HoHJ0&#038;list=RDTWbO5-HoHJ0&#038;start_radio=1\" target=\"_blank\">Master of Puppets treatment<\/a>, which sounds extremely similar to At Doom&#8217;s Gate\u2060\u2014the song is listed as a likely sample source used by Robert Prince on the <a href=\"https:\/\/doom.fandom.com\/wiki\/Doom_music\" target=\"_blank\">Doom Wiki<\/a>.
