Grand Theft Auto 6<\/a>‘s impending arrival has left other developers worried about how their own game will fare in the face of one of the most anticipated launches of all time. It looks like Remedy’s new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, isn’t one of them. <\/p>\n

Chatting to The Game Business<\/a>, Gaudechon is pretty sanguine about the whole thing, despite it serving as steep competition for any action game launching in 2026, including Control Resonant<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a year, I believe, that\u2019s going to raise the tide,\u201d Gaudechon says. \u201cIt\u2019s going to put the spotlight even more on games than maybe in past years. Hopefully [GTA] will sell consoles. And raise the tide for all the players out there.”<\/p>\n

It’s an optimistic perspective, but also a pretty practical one. While, yes, GTA 6 is going to be a massive launch, sucking all the oxygen out of the room, it’s still just one game. Even with GTA Online, most players will finish the campaign and then be looking for new things. <\/p>\n

I’ve pretty much shelved my PS5, but since that’s going to be the only way I’ll be able to play GTA 6, since the PC version hasn’t even been announced yet, I’ll be dusting off the console. Maybe a lot of you will be, as well. Which might also inspire you to keep playing on it, maybe picking up Control Resonant. <\/p>\n

I suspect it’s also going to attract folk who skipped this console generation initially. And they might stick around after. <\/p>\n

\u201c[For us], it\u2019s less about trying to make your money back in a few days,” Gaudechon says. “Now you\u2019ve got multiple ways to have a longer tail. It\u2019s going to be fun. You can expect quality from us. You can expect a voice that will cut through the noise. Expect us to be as loud as we can and hopefully pique people\u2019s interest.”<\/p>\n

In the interview, Gaudechon also discussed the reaction to his appointment in February<\/a>\u2014there were concerns about his time at EA working on live service games and sports betting platforms\u2014and the need to make cross-media deals to build up Remedy’s franchises like Alan Wake and Control. <\/p>\n
