{"id":1557979,"date":"2026-04-20T17:32:49","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T17:32:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qgUTsxh92jqZwdwPZGCzDA"},"modified":"2026-04-20T17:32:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T17:32:49","slug":"anthropic-had-a-productive-and-constructive-meeting-with-white-house-officials-after-the-preview-release-of-its-new-cybersecurity-challenging-ai-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcader.org\/news\/anthropic-had-a-productive-and-constructive-meeting-with-white-house-officials-after-the-preview-release-of-its-new-cybersecurity-challenging-ai-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthropic had a &#8216;productive and constructive&#8217; meeting with White House officials after the preview release of its new cybersecurity-challenging AI model"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Anthropic and the US government have not been on the best of terms in recent months, as the US Department of Defense deemed the company a &#8220;supply chain risk&#8221; after its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/ai\/anthropic-is-standing-up-to-the-us-department-of-war-and-refusing-to-remove-ai-autonomous-weapon-and-mass-surveillance-safeguards-we-cannot-in-good-conscience-accede-to-their-request\/\" target=\"_blank\">refusal to remove safeguards<\/a> designed to prevent its products being used for autonomous weapon and mass surveillance purposes. <\/p>\n<p>The company has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/ai\/anthropic-is-suing-the-us-government-for-blacklisting-it-and-its-calling-in-support-from-google-and-openai\/\" target=\"_blank\">since sued<\/a>, but that hasn&#8217;t stopped Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei from attending a meeting at the White House after the announcement of its new <a href=\"https:\/\/red.anthropic.com\/2026\/mythos-preview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Claude Mythos<\/a> AI model earlier this month. <\/p>\n<p>Mythos may have caused a stir all the way to the very top, as it&#8217;s said to be capable of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/ai\/anthropics-new-claude-mythos-ai-model-has-apparently-found-thousands-of-vulnerabilities-in-every-major-operating-system-and-every-major-web-browser-along-with-a-range-of-other-important-pieces-of-software\/\" target=\"_blank\">identifying thousands of high-severity cybersecurity vulnerabilities<\/a>, and can write its own exploits to demonstrate them.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height: 250px;\">\n<div class=\"kwizly-quiz kwizly-W099kO\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <script src=\"https:\/\/kwizly.com\/embed\/W099kO.js\" async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The model is currently in the preview stage, with a few dozen companies given access to its capabilities. Trump called it a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116144552969293195\" target=\"_blank\">radical, left, woke company<\/a>&#8220;, and claimed that the US government &#8220;will not do business with them again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite these remarks, it appears that Claude Mythos has warranted a cooler approach from the US government in regards to dealing with Anthropic&#8217;s AI developments. <\/p>\n<p>Certainly, an AI model with these sorts of capabilities could represent a potential security risk if it fell into the wrong hands, and a powerful tool for any company, or government, to wield.<\/p>\n<p>For Anthropic&#8217;s part, <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2026\/04\/17\/business\/anthropic-white-house-meeting-dario-amodei#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20meeting%20reflected%20Anthropic%E2%80%99s%20ongoing%20commitment%20to%20engaging%20with%20the%20U.S.%20government%20on%20the%20development%20of%20responsible%20AI.%20We%20are%20grateful%20for%20their%20time%20and%20are%20looking%20forward%20to%20continuing%20these%20discussions%2C%E2%80%9D%20the%20spokesperson%20said.\" target=\"_blank\">a spokesperson for the company said:<\/a> &#8220;The meeting reflected Anthropic\u2019s ongoing commitment to engaging with the US government on the development of responsible AI.
