Despite some initial and possibly na\u00efve hopes that it could deliver fantastic integrated graphics for mainstream gaming laptops and handhelds, in reality it&#8217;s been out for a year and has delivered only a little. Instead, it&#8217;s primarily been found in <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/gaming-laptops\/asus-rog-flow-z13-2025-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">weird hybrid tablets<\/a>, ridiculously <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/handheld-gaming-pcs\/gpds-strix-halo-handheld-has-finally-seen-some-testing-and-usd2-200-still-seems-like-a-tough-sell-even-if-it-blows-todays-handhelds-out-of-the-water\/\" target=\"_blank\">expensive handhelds<\/a>, and a select few <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hp.com\/us-en\/shop\/vwa\/laptops\/proc=AMD-Ryzen-AI-Max\" target=\"_blank\">similarly expensive workstation laptops<\/a>. It looks like that might soon change, though.<\/p>\n<p>Lenovo has been cooking up some new gaming laptops, some of which it showed off for CES 2026 (including <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/gaming-laptops\/lenovos-latest-rollable-screen-concept-laptop-has-finally-got-its-rolly-polly-the-right-way-around\/\" target=\"_blank\">one with a rollable screen<\/a>), and it&#8217;s just hinted that a Strix Halo laptop might be in the works. This model presumably refers to a laptop featuring N1X, a long-anticipated Arm-based Nvidia CPU that&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/gaming-laptops\/nvidias-long-awaited-n1x-arm-chip-for-the-pc-will-be-released-within-months-according-to-a-new-report\/\" target=\"_blank\">rumoured to launch very soon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, though, based on what we&#8217;ve seen of Strix Halo so far, if Lenovo does launch a gaming laptop featuring the chip, we can expect it to be very expensive. And that was the case even before the memory shortage and resultant apocalyptic prices.<\/p>\n<p>Saying that, though, there&#8217;s a chance the new laptop could feature the similarly new Strix Halo chip that was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/the-amd-ryzen-ai-max-range-gets-two-more-entries-one-of-which-looks-perfect-for-the-ultimate-in-handheld-pc-gaming\/\" target=\"_blank\">just announced at CES 2026<\/a>. We&#8217;re all hoping that one will be cheaper than the other, beefier Strix Halo chips that are already out there, because it gets rid of half of the CPU cores but keeps all the GPU cores. Which might not be so great for workstations but would be ideal for gaming.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, there&#8217;s no official word on even the existence of this laptop, let alone its specific configuration.<\/p>\n<p>If Lenovo does indeed bring out a Strix Halo laptop, it might offer some fresh challenge to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/graphics-cards\/fast-feisty-fabulous-ive-benchmarked-intels-new-panther-lake-processor-and-its-dragging-gaming-laptop-performance-out-of-integrated-graphics\/\" target=\"_blank\">Intel&#8217;s recently launched Panther Lake chips<\/a>. On the performance front, that is; battery life would be another story entirely. It wouldn&#8217;t be apples to apples though, of course, as PTL is much lighter, more moderate and efficient.
