The deal\u2014which is worth $30 million, has been financed by XD Inc, perhaps best known as the developer and publisher of the free-to-play<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/a-new-torchlight-game-has-begun-playtesting-on-steam-but-it-may-not-be-what-you-expect\/\"> Torchlight Infinite<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Embracer will retain the publishing rights to the popular, Soulslike-infused shooters<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/remnant-from-the-ashes-review\/\"> Remnant: From the Ashes<\/a> and Remnant 2. These will be transferred to THQ Nordic, which already owns the IP rights and Remnant&#8217;s developer Gunfire Games. The rights to Fellowship are also being transferred, but these will be handed over to<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/uk\/satisfactory\/\"> Satisfactory<\/a> developer and publisher Coffee Stain, which will be spun off from Embracer to become a publicly traded company on December 11.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This transaction supports our key priorities by strengthening our focus on strategic assets and core IPs in Embracer while improving profitability and free cash flow,&#8221; Embracer CEO Phil Rogers said in a<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/embracer.com\/releases\/embracer-group-divests-arc-games-and-cryptic-studios-while-several-key-rights-are-retained-within-the-group\/\" target=\"_blank\"> statement<\/a>. &#8221; The deal also allows online multiplayer game Fellowship, developed by a talented external team in Stockholm, to find a great home within Coffee Stain Group. I would like to thank the teams at Arc and Cryptic for their hard work over the past four years and wish them all the best as we are confident they will thrive and develop in the years ahead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zU6_2QnhP3U\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Both Arc Games and Cryptic were purchased by Embracer back in 2021, during its apparent effort to hoover up half the games industry into one giant, private equity vacuum bag. But it all went wrong when Embracer<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/stunned-embracer-ceo-has-to-deliver-financial-report-right-after-dollar2-billion-mystery-deal-falls-apart-its-been-a-rough-night\/\"> failed to secure<\/a> a &#8220;groundbreaking strategic partnership&#8221; worth $2 billion, after which Embracer<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/embracer-reveals-it-laid-off-around-1400-people-in-6-months-last-year-but-dont-be-a-bellyacher-this-is-all-about-maximising-shareholder-value\/\"> laid off<\/a> thousands of people, closed studios like<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/saints-row-studio-volition-has-been-closed-immediately-as-part-of-embracers-restructuring-plan\/\"> Volition<\/a>,<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/embracer-has-reportedly-closed-elex-developer-piranha-bytes-as-former-creative-director-announces-a-new-indie-studio\/\"> Piranha Bytes<\/a> and<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/embracer-has-closed-alone-in-the-dark-studio-pieces-interactive\/\"> Pieces Interactive<\/a>, and cancelled several projects, which reportedly included a new Deus Ex.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Embracer specifically held onto Arc Games, which was previously known as Gearbox San Francisco, when it<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/flagging-megacorp-embracer-group-is-now-selling-off-gearbox-entertainment-to-take-two-for-dollar460-million\/\"> sold the Borderlands developer<\/a> to 2K Games last year. That makes this the second time Embracer has clung onto the publishing rights for the Remnant series, which are<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/remnant-from-the-ashes-review\/\"> decent<\/a><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/remnant-2-review\/\"> games<\/a> for sure, but not <em>massive <\/em>sellers.<\/p>\n<p>That was a month before Embracer sold<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/embracer-group-sells-off-space-marine-maker-saber-interactive-and-most-of-its-studios-for-dollar247-million-but-the-price-could-go-a-lot-higher\/\"> Saber Interactive<\/a>, developer of<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/uk\/warhammer-40000-space-marine-2\/\"> Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2<\/a>. Space Marine 2 went on to be an absolutely enormous success, which you&#8217;d think Embracer would have liked to be a part of. But it doesn&#8217;t matter, because Embracer has<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/embracer-brings-original-guitar-hero-publisher-redoctane-back-from-the-dead-for-the-next-evolution-in-rhythm-gaming\/\"> revived defunct Guitar Hero publisher RedOctane<\/a> in a cunning plan to revive the plastic peripheral era of rhythm games.
