It boasts a low barrier to entry due to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/arc-raiders-and-battlefield-6-prove-that-great-performance-and-low-system-requirements-are-king-for-multiplayer-pc-games-in-2025\/\">non-prohibitive system requirements<\/a>, and those requirements are so low fans have been putting it through the wringer to see <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/graphics-cards\/battlefield-6-is-so-well-optimised-its-playable-on-an-eight-year-old-rx-570-with-just-4-gb-of-vram\/\">just how old a GPU can run it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, YouTuber Fully Buffered (via <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tomshardware.com\/video-games\/pc-gaming\/youtuber-gets-battlefield-6-running-on-12-year-old-amd-fx-9590-cpu-playable-at-40-fps-in-786p-with-an-rx-5700-gpu-experiment-reveals-only-secureboot-not-tpm-is-necessary-for-javelin-anti-cheat\" target=\"_blank\">Tom&#8217;s Hardware<\/a>) <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/bJf90cg6Olg\" target=\"_blank\">got the game to run on an AMD FX-9590 CPU<\/a>, first released in 2013, revealing that the game&#8217;s stated minimum required specs are a bit misleading.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bJf90cg6Olg\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Fully Buffered broke down his process in the above video, where he shows the game running on the 12-year-old chip to a quality standard he calls &#8220;not terrible.&#8221; It peaks at around mid-40 FPS at lower resolutions, though input lag kneecaps the feasibility of playing this way for very long.<\/p>\n<p>The poor GPU, an RX 5700, is shown hovering around 30% utilization in Task Manager, its potency shown a hard ceiling by the comparatively ancient processor. Regardless, it&#8217;s remarkable that it runs at all\u2014and not just because of the severe bottleneck.<\/p>\n<p>As the video highlights, Battlefield 6 requires Trusted Platform Module 2.0\u2014a feature that only became standard after the 9590&#8217;s heyday\u2060\u2014and UEFI Secure Boot enabled for EA&#8217;s proprietary kernel-level anti-cheat, Javelin. At least, that&#8217;s what the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ea.com\/en\/games\/battlefield\/battlefield-6\/system-requirements\" target=\"_blank\">system requirements<\/a> say; when Fully Buffered launched the game with the FX CPU (which did have Secure Boot but not TPM enabled), he was able to play the game as normal.<\/p>\n<p>The game&#8217;s not-terrible FPS in the video is a testament to its consistent performance, though anyone trying to actually enjoy BF6 on an AMD FX chip will have a rough go of it.
