Despite its latest patch <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/wading-into-helldivers-2s-new-terminid-hives-to-blow-up-their-hearts-all-as-hordes-of-bugs-swarm-you-is-unsurprisingly-exactly-as-cool-as-it-sounds\/\">being a ton of fun<\/a>, the entire engine is also buckling and groaning under the weight of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/as-bugs-and-bad-performance-spoil-an-otherwise-excellent-helldivers-2-update-arrowhead-ceo-says-its-technical-debt-is-crippling\/\">extreme technical debt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Crashes, bugs, terrible performance, and an ever-balooning file size are all starting to get the game a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/553850\/HELLDIVERS_2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mixed recent review score<\/a> on Steam at the time of writing\u2014although just barely. Currently, 69% (nice) of all reviews in the last 30 days are positive.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Arrowhead has noticed your concerns. In a recent post to the Helldivers 2 Discord, community manager Baskinator relays: &#8220;We know many of you have been experiencing issues, including performance drops, stability hiccups, freezes, and the annoying audio bugs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019ve seen the feedback across Discord, forums, Reddit and our dashboards. You\u2019ve been loud, clear, and absolutely right to expect better. We also recognise that our recent updates haven\u2019t hit the mark, and our silence hasn\u2019t helped. That\u2019s on us. We read all of it, and we are hard at work creating a roadmap to address this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The developer then states there&#8217;ll be a mid-October patch that should address some of the woes, including landing on caves, crash fixes, and some &#8220;minor performance improvements&#8221;. For starters, expect another post next week to kick that off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I do feel a little for Arrowhead here\u2014the Helldivers 2 playerbase is, uh,<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/helldivers-2-players-celebrate-victory-over-sony-as-the-review-bomb-cape-finally-appears-in-the-game-we-won-the-biggest-and-longest-running-major-order-in-the-game-to-date\/\"> let&#8217;s call them <em>vocal<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>and direct communication <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/the-helldivers-2-dev-who-got-downvoted-to-oblivion-is-right-we-need-to-chill-out-about-balance-in-a-4-week-old-game\/\">hasn&#8217;t exactly worked out smoothly in the past<\/a>. But I meant it when I said that Helldivers 2 goes through a cycle of &#8220;it&#8217;s so over&#8221; to &#8220;we&#8217;re so back&#8221;, to the point where you can set your watch by it.<\/p>\n<p>Or, as I did, write an article <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/action\/crashing-servers-flame-wars-and-a-60-day-path-to-redemption-the-utterly-chaotic-first-year-of-helldivers-2-has-been-a-democratic-doozy\/\">back at the end of 2024<\/a> documenting the game&#8217;s repeated ups and downs.
