HBO first announced its Harry Potter<\/em> television reboot in 2023<\/a>, unveiling plans for a \u201cdecade-long series\u201d that would adapt all seven of J.K. Rowling\u2019s books. The company pledged the show would be \u201cproduced with the same epic craft, love, and care this global franchise is known for.\u201d Rowling herself expressed enthusiasm for the format, noting that a long-form series \u201cwill allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by television.\u201d<\/p>\n

The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner (Succession<\/a><\/em>, His Dark Materials<\/a><\/em>), with Emmy-winning director Mark Mylod set to executive produce and direct multiple episodes. The production is a collaboration between HBO, Bront\u00eb Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers also include Harry Potter<\/em> author J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts for Bront\u00eb Film and TV, alongside David Heyman (Harry Potter<\/em> film<\/a> series, Paddington<\/a><\/em>) for Heyday Films.<\/p>\n

The highly anticipated series is set to debut in 2027 on HBO and the newly renamed HBO Max streaming platform, including in new international launch markets such as Germany, Italy, and the U.K.<\/p>\n
