After you start the research, you can complete it at any time with no time constraints, though keep in mind that the bonuses available during Go Fest will likely make it easier to complete it, so it\u2019s best to play during the event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Below, we list all the steps for the <em>Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> \u201cA Hero\u2019s Journey\u201d Special Research quest, along with some insight on which choice you should pick between Zacian or Zamazenta.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">\u2018A Hero\u2019s Journey\u2019 Special Research quest<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">\u2018A Hero\u2019s Journey\u2019 step 1 of 6<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Power up Pok\u00e9mon 10 times (1 Fast TM)<\/li>\n<li>Use a Fast TM (1 Charged TM)<\/li>\n<li>Use a Charged TM (3 Potions)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong>Rewards<\/strong>: 2,025 Stardust, 3 Super Potions, 2,025 XP<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">At this point, you\u2019ll be tasked between choosing between two steps: \u201c<strong>Crowned Sword Journey<\/strong>\u201d or \u201c<strong>Crowned Shield Journey<\/strong>.\u201d The steps will mostly be the same (with some type swapping depending on your choice), but the rewards will be different:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Selecting \u201cCrowned Sword Journey\u201d will give you <strong>Zacian<\/strong> <strong>Candy<\/strong>, alongside enough <strong>Crowned Sword Energy<\/strong> to upgrade it to its Crowned form.<\/li>\n<li>Selecting \u201cCrowned Shield Journey\u201d will give you <strong>Zamazenta<\/strong> <strong>Candy<\/strong>, alongside enough <strong>Crowned Shield Energy <\/strong>to upgrade it to its Crowned form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong>Neither of the choices actually give you the Legendary Pok\u00e9mon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Just pick whichever one you want the energy for! You will still be able to raid, catch, and upgrade the other Legendary. The research will just give you candy for the Legendary you pick, as well as enough energy to upgrade it right off the bat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That being said, if you can only prioritize one, should you pick Zacian or Zamazenta<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/pokemon-go-a-heros-journey-choose-a-path-quest-steps-zacian-or-zamazenta-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong>Based on meta, Crowned Sword Zacian seems to be <em>the<\/em> all-rounder choice<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/pvpoke.com\/rankings\/all\/10000\/overall\/zacian_crowned_sword\/\">According to PvPoke<\/a>, it\u2019s the best candidate in Master League PvP (with Crowned Shield Zamazenta coming second), and it\u2019s the #7 top raid attacker <a href=\"https:\/\/db.pokemongohub.net\/best\/raid-attackers\">according to the Pok\u00e9mon Go Database<\/a> (with Zamazenta at #14 \u2014 which is still pretty good). <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">When you look a bit closer, Crowned Sword Zacian is the #2 attacker in both its types (fairy and steel) and Crowned Shield Zamazenta is the #1 steel-type attacker. However, Crowned Shield Zamazenta gets outclassed as a fighting-type attacker by many other things, making it not a worthwhile investment as that specific type.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Each of them also has their own <strong>Adventure Effect<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Crowned Sword Zacian knows <strong>Behemoth Blade<\/strong>, which <strong>strengthens your Pok\u00e9mon&#8217;s attacks in raids and Max Battles<\/strong> for six minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Crowned Shield Zamazenta knows <strong>Behemoth Bash<\/strong>, which <strong>strengthens your Pok\u00e9mon&#8217;s defense in raids and Max Battles<\/strong> for six minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">These buffs are a bit expensive to use (5,000 Stardust and five Zacian or Zamazenta Candy per six minutes), but Zacian can help make the difference if you come up close on soloing certain raids.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That being said, Zacian is more of an all-rounder and mayhaps the \u201cbetter\u201d pick among the two, but even so, you should pick with your heart. Do you think Zamazenta is the cuter dog of the two? Then pick that one! Did you play <em>Pok\u00e9mon Sword<\/em> so you have an allegiance to Zacian? That\u2019s a good enough reason for me! Pick with your heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">As usual, don\u2019t stress too much about your choice.
