Bottle Caps<\/strong> are a very rare item added to Pok\u00e9mon games in Pok\u00e9mon Sun<\/em> and Moon<\/em>, and after many<\/em> years, you can grab Gold Bottle Caps<\/strong> in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

These items are still exceedingly rare to find in mainline games, which makes sense, as they\u2019re used for increasing your Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s stats. It\u2019s no different in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>. That\u2019s right \u2014 you can turn that 80% IV Mewtwo into a hundo with a Gold Bottle Cap.<\/p>\n

Below we explain how Bottle Caps work in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> and how to get them.<\/p>\n

\n

What Bottle Caps do in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/h2>\n

Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> doesn\u2019t seem to have regular Bottle Caps yet (and we don\u2019t know if Scopely is planning on adding them), but it does have Gold Bottle Caps<\/strong>, the premier version of the item, allowing you to max out a Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s stats<\/strong>. In the mainline games, regular Bottle Caps can max out one<\/em> stat, but Golden Bottle Caps will max out all six (though yes, Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> only has three stats).<\/p>\n

These one-time use items can be used on any non-shadow Pok\u00e9mon that is a Good Buddy or higher<\/strong>. Once you use it on them, you\u2019ll be given a set of research tasks referred to as \u201cHyper Training<\/strong>\u201d to complete with this Pok\u00e9mon, like winning gym battles with your target Pok\u00e9mon in your party or spinning Pok\u00e9Stops with the Pok\u00e9mon set as your buddy.<\/p>\n

The exact <\/em>details aren\u2019t 100% known yet, as nobody has a Gold Bottle Cap yet, since it needs to be earned from a battle pass with daily limits (more on that below).<\/p>\n

There is also a time limit for this. If you don\u2019t complete the Hyper Training research tasks within 365 days of starting it, it will expire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

How to get Bottle Caps in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/h2>\n

As of this writing, there\u2019s only one way to get a Gold Bottle Cap: buy and complete the deluxe version of the \u201cGo Pass: Ancients Recovered\u201d battle pass ($20).<\/strong> Yep. \u2639 This cap also expires on Sunday, July 6, at 11:59 p.m. in your local time, so make sure to use it before then, if you do choose to buy it.<\/p>\n

This battle pass works the same as the previous Go Passes, so you can rank up to 100 and then<\/em> choose to buy the deluxe version, retroactively earning all the premium rewards including the cap, if you want it. Note that from June 23-27, you can only earn 1,000 pass points per day, though this limit will be lifted during the Go Fest Global event on June 28 and 29. You will need to complete and claim all the rewards from this pass by June 29 at 11:59 p.m. in your local time or else they will vanish to the aether<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Just like the Lucky Trinket<\/a>, there will likely be more opportunities to grab this very-rare item, but I wouldn\u2019t put your hopes into any of said methods being free-to-play.<\/p>\n

\n

Is the Gold Bottle Cap worth buying?<\/h2>\n

Just like the Lucky Trinket, the item doesn\u2019t have a coin value and its worth comes from how badly you may want to turn one of your beloved Pok\u00e9mon into a hundo (100% IV Pok\u00e9mon)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In this specific case, the \u201cGo Pass: Ancients Recovered\u201d battle pass is pretty underwhelming \u2014 there\u2019s no raid passes or Rare Candy XL, with most of the premium rewards being things like Lucky Eggs and Lure Modules. <\/p>\n

That is to say that while $20 could net you around 30 Premium Battle Passes (potentially more, if there\u2019s a good bundle), there are some Pok\u00e9mon that are rare enough that you may<\/em> want to just use a bottle cap on them if you like them enough. The Galarian birds<\/a> come to mind with this, or maybe even if you have an old armored Mewtwo, that\u2019s another option. (When is armored Mewtwo coming back, Scopely? Hmm..?) <\/p>\n
