In a genre all-but dominated by Discovery Channel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/what-to-watch\/23277870\/aquatic-horror-movies-jaws-the-meg-shark-week\">Shark Week<\/a> and National Geographic\u2019s SharkFest, how can a contender like Netflix make a splash in the shark space? How about steal the hook of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/22406255\/new-pokemon-snap-review-nintendo-switch\">Pok\u00e9mon Snap games<\/a>, but replace every Pok\u00e9mon with a breed of shark?<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That\u2019s effectively the premise of <em>All the Sharks<\/em>, a new reality competition series coming to Netflix this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Netflix says <em>All the Sharks<\/em> is a \u201cfin-tastic,\u201d \u201cfirst of its kind reality competition where four teams of shark FINatics travel the world trying to find and photograph every shark imaginable in hopes of claiming the $50,000 prize.\u201d In practice, this looks like a Pok\u00e9mon Snap trainer visiting shark-filled locations in hopes of photographing a rare spawn, centering it in frame, and capturing the beauty\/terror of nature. Points for good snaps are displayed onscreen \u2014&nbsp;at least in the trailer for <em>All the Sharks<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">You know what? I don\u2019t hate this idea. Cribbing from <em>Pok\u00e9mon Snap<\/em> for a reality show isn\u2019t the worst idea \u2014 I\u2019ll take this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23972965\/squid-game-challenge-reality-show-netflix-review-007-road-million\">over reality-TV <em>Squid Game<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and maybe Netflix should expand the idea. Who can photograph the hottest, most rare singles spawning across <em>Temptation Island<\/em> in a spinoff of that sexed-up show? Why not add an extra layer of excitement to the <em>The Great British Baking Show<\/em>, capturing Noel Fielding\u2019s plumage (aka ostentatious designer knitwear) across the habitats of Berkshire, England? Make the <em>Queer Eye<\/em> team photograph and <em>physically capture<\/em> their makeover subjects. These ideas are free, Netflix executives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><em>All the Sharks<\/em> comes to Netflix on July 4.
