Double Fine Productions\u2019 Keeper<\/em> was revealed Sunday at the Xbox Games Showcase<\/a> and will launch Oct. 17 for Xbox Series X and Windows PC. It\u2019ll also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.<\/p>\n

In Keeper<\/em>, you\u2019ll play as a weathered lighthouse aged by time. It sprouts legs, and you and a bird companion will then explore various environments together. The trailer showcased a forest, an illuminated cave, and a village populated by robotic characters on wheels. Double Fine\u2019s games are known for being full of heart, and judging by its reveal trailer, Keeper<\/em> will have plenty of it.<\/p>\n

Double Fine is perhaps best known for 2021\u2019s Psychonauts 2<\/a><\/em>. It had previously set aside Keeper<\/em> in favor of completing development on Psychonauts 2<\/em>. Polygon enjoyed Psychonauts 2<\/em>, calling it \u201cone of the most imaginative platforming games out there, with an absolute flood of joyous ideas and images\u201d in our review<\/a>. Its development was featured in the Double Fine PsychOdyssey documentary<\/a>, one of the best and most honest looks at the process of large-scale video game development.<\/p>\n

Double Fine was acquired by Microsoft in 2019<\/a> and is known for developing artistically and narratively unique games such as both Psychonauts titles and Broken Age<\/em>, as well as remasters of games that founder Tim Schafer originally worked on in the 1990s, like Grim Fandango Remastered<\/em> and Full Throttle Remastered<\/em>.<\/p>\n
