Just like other relics, the Phantom relic is no joke and it requires quite a bit of play either in the Occult Crescent<\/a> (the Dawntrail<\/em> field operation) or some FATE grinding in the expansion\u2019s zones.<\/p>\n

Below we explain what FFXIV<\/em> relic weapons are and how to start your Dawntrail<\/em> relic weapon.<\/p>\n

\n

Relic weapons, explained<\/h2>\n

Relic weapons are unique weapons for each job that need to be upgraded by following a series of quests. The end result? The best weapon in the Dawntrail<\/em> expansion \u2014 though since all the steps aren\u2019t out yet, you won\u2019t be able to get there just quite yet.<\/p>\n

If this is your first relic weapon, know that you have quite the grind ahead of you, but also this stuff drops in patches, so you can do it as it releases to lessen the grind. (Or maybe you\u2019re reading this guide years in the future and you\u2019re gonna do it all at once!)<\/p>\n

This weapon series involves the Occult Crescent, the field operation duty for Dawntrail<\/em>, though you can complete your weapon by other means, if you hate field ops.<\/p>\n

\n

Step 1: How to get your Phantom weapon<\/h2>\n

This first step was added in patch 7.25 and the weapon is item level 745.<\/p>\n

To get your first weapon:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Complete the \u201cDawntrail\u201d main scenario quest.<\/li>\n
  2. Unlock the Occult Crescent hub by completing the quest line that starts with \u201cOne Last Hurrah\u201d in Tulliyolal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Keep completing the quests until you finish \u201cUnfamiliar Territory<\/strong>.\u201d (You can go further than this, as continuing this quest will be required to participate in the Occult Crescent, but you don\u2019t have to do more than this for the relic weapon.)<\/li>\n
  4. Talk to Lydirceil in the Phantom Village<\/strong> to start the quest \u201cArcane Artistry<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li>\n
  5. Obtain three of each <\/em>of the six different types of demiatma<\/strong> \u2014 obtained either by completing FATEs and critical encounters in the Occult Crescent<\/strong> or<\/em> by completing FATEs in the Dawntrail<\/em> zone<\/strong>s (Urqopacha, Kozama\u2019uka, Yak T\u2019el, Shaaloani, Heritage Found, or Living Memory).<\/li>\n
  6. Turn in the 18 demiatma<\/strong> to Gerolt to get your weapon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It does take quite a few critical encounters to get a single demiatma drop, so don\u2019t expect to just get one from each you complete. You\u2019ll know when you get one as a pop-up will appear on your screen noting that you got a demiatma.<\/p>\n

    For reference, I\u2019ve run about 15 critical encounters so far\u2026 and I have three demiatma, as of this writing. That said, we\u2019re not 100% sure what the grind for getting additional weapons will be like, but we\u2019ll update this guide when we get there. (Sheesh, I forgot what the real relic grind was like somehow.)<\/p>\n

    That\u2019s all there is for now, but we can expect more relic weapon steps to roll out in later patches, alongside additions to the Occult Crescent.<\/p>\n
