Xbox CFO Tim Stuart spoke at the Jeffries Interactive Entertainment Virtual Conference last week (as transcribed by <a href=\"https:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/4388809-microsoft-corporation-msft-management-presents-jefferies-interactive-entertainment-virtual?part=single\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SeekingAlpha<\/a>) and gave more details about the company\u2019s plans for Bethesda and ZeniMax games and cross-platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ll do in the long run is we don\u2019t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise,\u201d Stuart says. \u201cBut what we want is we want that content, in the long run, to be either first or better or best or pick your differentiated experience, on our platforms. We will want Bethesda content to show up the best as \u2014 on our platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><output class=\"widget-container\" readability=\"-24\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"jsx-2486504960 slideshow-preview\" readability=\"7\">\n<p>Confirmed Xbox Series X Games<\/p>\n<div class=\"jsx-2486504960 images-container\"><button aria-label=\"Open Slideshow\" class=\"jsx-2486504960 hero-image\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"jsx-3905315446 aspect-ratio-container aspect-ratio-16-9\">\n<div class=\"jsx-3905315446 aspect-ratio-child\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/microsoft-wants-bethesda-games-first-or-better-or-best-on-xbox.jpg\" alt role=\"presentation\" class=\"jsx-2920405963 progressive-image image jsx-2126225085 expand loading\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/output>Stuart was clear that his statements aren\u2019t meant to announce pulling content from other platforms, but says that audiences will see Xbox \u201ccontinue to see us shift towards a first or better or best approach on our platforms.\u201dHe also mentioned how this strategy will help Xbox\u2019s prized Game Pass program going forward. \u201c[I]f you think about something like Game Pass, if it shows up best in Game Pass, that\u2019s what we want to see, and we want to drive our Game Pass subscriber base through that Bethesda pipeline,\u201d Stuart adds.<\/p>\n<p>So what does this mean? Well, for starters Stuart is just talking about cross-platform releases. But for Bethesda games, and presumably, ZeniMax games, that are released on other platforms players can expect to find those games either first on Xbox or possibly with additions that make it \u201cbest\u201d on an Xbox platform.<\/p>\n<p>What this means in practice remains to be seen as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/the-5-biggest-takeaways-from-xboxs-bethesda-acquisition\">ink is still drying on the ZeniMax acquisition<\/a>. So far, the deal has produced a few more ZeniMax games appearing on Game Pass like Doom Eternal. And Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that it&#8217;ll determine the release plan for ZeniMax and Bethesda games on a &#8220;case by case&#8221; basis which leaves even more flexibility to how Xbox approaches future games from the developers.<\/p>\n<p><output class=\"article-video-container\"><\/output>We\u2019ll likely get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/xbox-isnt-actively-planning-bethesdas-future-until-after-the-acquisition-is-complete\">better picture of Xbox\u2019s strategy in the future<\/a>, but both of Bethesda\u2019s big games like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/bethesda-creation-engine-biggest-ever-upgrade-reword-starfield-elder-scrolls-6-todd-howard\">Starfield<\/a> and Elder Scrolls 6 are still seemingly years away.<br \/>\n<em>Matt T.M.
