It\u2019s expected to hit hard, so you\u2019ll want to bring out the tankiest of your tanks to help you out with this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Machamp will specifically appear as part of <strong>Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day on Sunday, May 25, from 2-5 p.m. in your local time<\/strong>, appearing at power spots every 30 minutes or so. (This also comes hot off the heels of a Machop Community Day event the day before, so make sure to stock up on Machop Candy!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Below we list Gigantamax Machamp\u2019s best counters and weaknesses in <em>Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>, as well as general battle tips for the big guy.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"gigantamax-machamp-weakness\">Gigantamax Machamp weakness<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Machamp has a few weaknesses, though there\u2019s only a few we can really take advantage of: <strong>flying<\/strong>-, <strong>psychic<\/strong>-, and <strong>fairy<\/strong>-type moves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That being said, it\u2019ll be resistant against rock-, bug-, and dark-type moves, so don\u2019t use those unless they\u2019re just fast moves to help charge the max meter.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"gigantamax-machamp-best-counters\">Gigantamax Machamp best counters<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Try to bring at least one of these attackers:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dynamax Metagross<\/strong> with Zen Headbutt (Max Mindstorm)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Moltres<\/strong> with Wing Slash (Max Airstream)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Unfezant <\/strong>with Air Slash (Max Airstream)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Charizard<\/strong> with Air Slash (Max Airstream)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Yep, you read that right \u2014 <em>Dynamax<\/em> Charizard, not Gigantamax. Gigantamax Charizard will always have G-Max Wildfire as its attack, regardless of what its fast move is set to, and in this case, you want a flying-type max move. That said, you can still bring a powered-up Gigantamax Charizard if that\u2019s what you\u2019ve got! Bring anything that can bring the damage; the list above is just the <em>best<\/em> stuff to bring.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/gigantamax-machamp-counters-weakness-and-battle-tips-in-pokemon-go-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">As of this writing, there\u2019s a Timed Research set that will reward you with a Dynamax Beldum, alongside Beldum Candy to help you prepare for this tough fight, so you should invest in that if you can.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">For defenders\/tanks, bring one or two of the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dynamax Blissey<\/strong> with Pound<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax\/Gigantamax Gengar <\/strong>with Lick<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax\/Gigantamax Venusaur<\/strong> with Vine Whip<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax\/Gigantamax Blastoise <\/strong>with Water Gun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">These guys\u2019 job is just to soak up the damage from Machamp while generating as much energy as possible with their fast attacks. Note that your mileage may vary here \u2014 if Machamp knows Close Combat, your Blissey may have a harder time. If Machamp knows Payback, then your Gengar might be in trouble. If possible, bringing one of each and then swapping depending on Machamp\u2019s moveset is going to be the to-go strategy here when it comes to tanking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Consider just bringing the&nbsp;<em>strongest<\/em>&nbsp;Dynamax or Gigantamax Pok\u00e9mon you have. If you have a maxed out Gigantamax Toxtricity and your Dynamax Metagross isn\u2019t leveled (and you don\u2019t have the means to power it up), just bring your Toxtricity.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"general-gigantamax-machamp-tips\">General Gigantamax Machamp tips<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">If you\u2019ve been struggling in Max Battles, here\u2019s some general tips to survive \u2014 and make sure you\u2019re an asset to your team. Gigantamax battles involve way more strategy than the usual rampant tapping that you do in raids, so make sure to know what you\u2019re doing before jumping in.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make sure you have enough players.<\/strong>&nbsp;High-efficiency groups with maxed out investments can take down the Machamp with fewer people, but practically, if you don\u2019t have hundreds of spare candy and even more Stardust laying around, this isn\u2019t going to be an option for you. Make sure you have as many people as possible to ensure that you get your beefy muscle man.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t sleep on Max Spirit and Max Guard<\/strong>. Teams work best when there\u2019s a variety of moves, not just maxed-out attacks. Each player should bring Pok\u00e9mon with the defensive and healing moves unlocked as well. Max Guard will focus single-target damage towards you and reduce the damage taken; Max Spirit will heal the whole party. These moves are really important to make sure your damage-dealers can keep dishing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remember to swap to super effective moves when it\u2019s time to Dynamax<\/strong>. For&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/449273\/dynamax-pokemon-get-catch-max-battles\">Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>, their max moves are determined by whatever type their fast move is. This means if you have a Darmanitan with Fire Fang, it will know Max Flare. A Gengar with Lick will know Max Phantasm. Take advantage of this and make sure to swap to a Pok\u00e9mon that will deal super effective damage to your target before Dynamaxing, if you can.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on your fast moves<\/strong>. You want to spam your fast moves to build up that Dynamax meter and often times, using your charge move is actually a DPS loss when compared to the damage you could be doing with your max move will be. Spam those attacks!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level up a few \u2018mons, but you don\u2019t have to go too hard<\/strong>. Depending on your group size, you absolutely do not need to max out all your Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon to level 40-50. While this will make it easier on the rest of your group, if this isn\u2019t an investment you can make, you don\u2019t have to stress about it. Power things up as high as you can afford to, but don\u2019t fret if you don\u2019t have a maxed out Pok\u00e9mon.<\/li>\n<li>All of that said,\u00a0<strong>make sure to come as prepared as you can be<\/strong>. This is a team effort and there\u2019s a chance that a full group of four can still fail. Do not just bring your unleveled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/447546\/to-the-max-special-research-quest-rewards\">Dynamax Wooloo<\/a>\u00a0expecting a free ride to a powerful Pok\u00e9mon. (After all, if\u00a0<em>everyone<\/em>\u00a0does that, then you certainly won\u2019t clear the battle.) Again, you don\u2019t have to completely max out your Pok\u00e9mon, but it will be better for everyone involved if you bring something helpful to the table.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep your eye out for a shiny Machamp!<\/strong>&nbsp;If you clear the raid, there is a chance that the Machamp you catch will be shiny \u2014 which also means it\u2019ll be a guaranteed catch.
