Peacemaker<\/em> season 2 is coming to Max on Aug. 21, DC Studios announced Friday, and a new trailer for the best live-action DC superhero show ever made<\/a> is hinting at big things to come. That includes appearances from Nathan Fillion\u2019s Guy Gardner, Isabell Merced\u2019s Hawkgirl, and Sean Gunn\u2019s Maxwell Lord. Those three will be a big part of James Gunn\u2019s new Superman<\/em> movie<\/a> in July, offering some connective tissue between Peacemaker<\/em> and the rebooted, Gunn-helmed DCU.<\/p>\n

But the second season of Peacemaker<\/em> will also feature\u2026 another Peacemaker? The Peacemaker<\/em> season 2 trailer ends on John Cena\u2019s anti-hero<\/a> having an unfriendly run-in with his doppelg\u00e4nger in a pocket dimension. The first season of Peacemaker<\/em> briefly explored the concept of pocket dimensions<\/a>, meaning there\u2019s a good chance that Gunn and crew may use the conceit to help bridge the Snyder-era DC cinematic universe<\/a> and the one that soft-launched with animated series Creature Commandos<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

That said, who really cares if there\u2019s a hard and fast explanation for why Peacemaker<\/em> continuity extends from one era to the next? We\u2019re here for the Peacemaker antics, the return of Vigilante and Eagly, and more of Economos getting dunked on. Also, apparently Jennifer Holland\u2019s Emilia Harcourt is going to beat the shit out of lots of people, and that is good television. <\/p>\n

Frank Grillo returns as Rick Flag Sr. in season 2 of Peacemaker<\/em>, and Tim Meadows joins the cast as ARGUS agent Langston Fleury. Meadows\u2019 character looks like a hilarious dick and is a real highlight of the second season\u2019s teaser trailer.<\/p>\n

Gunn\u2019s Superman<\/em> hits movie theaters on July 11, and while it doesn\u2019t appear to be required homework for Peacemaker<\/em>, it\u2019ll at least give us more of Fillion\u2019s Green Lantern. What is<\/em> required, however, is watching the first season of Peacemaker<\/em>, which is superb.<\/p>\n
