The original <em>Gears of War<\/em>, first released in 2006, will be re-released as <em>Gears of War: Reloaded<\/em> on August 26 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Yes, you read that right: Gears of War is coming to PlayStation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Over the past year, Xbox has started tearing the walls of its exclusivity. In the past year, Xbox has ported games like <em>Pentiment<\/em>, <em>Sea of Thieves<\/em>, and <em>Indiana Jones and the Great Circle<\/em> to PS5. But the big three Xbox tentpoles \u2014 Forza, Gears of War, and Halo \u2014 remained stalwart, until just last week, when <em>Forza Horizon 5<\/em> was released on PS5. With today\u2019s announcement, the oft-rumored prospect of seeing Master Chief on PlayStation no longer seems far-fetched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Much like other recent remasters of older games, <em>Gears of War: Reloaded<\/em> features spruced-up visuals. It\u2019ll feature 4K resolution and be playable at 60 FPS \u2014 or at up to 120 FPS if your display can support that. All multiplayer maps and modes will be available from launch, as is all DLC. And according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.xbox.com\/en-us\/2025\/05\/05\/gears-of-war-reloaded-release-date\/\">Xbox press release<\/a>, the campaign won\u2019t have any loading screens between levels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/gears-of-war-coming-to-ps5-with-4k-remaster-1.jpg\" alt=\"Gears of War comparison shots between remaster and regular\" title=\"Gears of War comparison shots between remaster and regular\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: The Coalition\/Xbox Game Studios\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><em>Gears of War: Reloaded<\/em> will sell for $40, though if you purchased <em>Gears of War: Ultimate Edition<\/em> \u2014 an Xbox One remaster released in 2015 \u2014 prior to today\u2019s announcement, <em>Gears of War: Reloaded<\/em> will be available as a free upgrade.
