Legendary anime director Mamoru Hosoda<\/a> is back at it again \u2014 and his latest project, Scarlet<\/em>, features a pink-haired warrior princess battling enemies through a wasteland. According to the YouTube description, she\u2019s the titular Princess Scarlet and she wakes up in a mysterious \u201cLand of the Dead\u201d and must avenge her father\u2019s death, or be lost to nothingness and disappear.<\/p>\n

The poster is similarly badass, featuring the princess in a blood-soaked white gown, holding up a sword and looking pissed as hell. I cannot wait to see her in action.<\/p>\n

Hosoda\u2019s recent movies<\/a> include the Academy Award nominated Mirai<\/a><\/em>, which follows a young boy who discovers a magical time-traveling garden and Belle<\/em><\/a>, a sci-fi retelling of Beauty and the Beast<\/em>, which opened to great acclaim at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Some of his past works include Digimon: The Movie <\/em>and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time<\/em><\/a>, a time-travel romance I once watched as a teenager on a 12-hour international flight and it changed my brain chemistry. So with that being said: count me in as super excited for Scarlet<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Scarlet<\/em> will hit theaters in the United States on December 12. <\/p>\n
