The developer expects to spend more than 20 minutes on \u201cdeveloper-guided gameplay, including missions, killer weapons, and exciting Action Skills, new and returning characters, and more,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.playstation.com\/2025\/04\/29\/watch-the-borderlands-4-gameplay-deep-dive-state-of-play-on-april-30\/\">Gearbox Software creative director Graeme Timmins said in a post on the PlayStation blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Gearbox Software also recently announced that its moving up <em>Borderlands 4<\/em> to Sept. 12; it was previously set to be released on Sept. 23. The game was first shown during Geoff Keighley\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/news\/442046\/borderlands-4-announced-2025-gamescom-2024\">Opening Night Live ceremony ahead of Gamescom in 2024<\/a>, with the original release date announced in February. The release date hasn\u2019t been moved up a ton, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/borderlands-4-gets-new-release-date-fans-think-its-because-of-gta-6\/\">but there\u2019s speculation that it could be to get out of the way of Rockstar Games\u2019 <em>Grand Theft Auto 6<\/em><\/a> \u2014 the big release that\u2019s anticipated for this year. Of course, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23952805\/gta-6-grand-theft-auto-leaks-release-date-trailer\">Rockstar Games has yet to announce the release date for <em>GTA 6<\/em><\/a>, but the game is expected out this year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">If anyone would know where, exactly, to place <em>Borderlands 4<\/em> in relation to a game that will most certainly suck the air out of every other new release, it\u2019s Take-Two Interactive, which publishes both games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><em>Borderlands 4<\/em> is the first mainline game in the Borderlands series since 2019\u2019s <em>Borderlands 3<\/em>. There have been two spinoffs since, though: <em>Tiny Tina\u2019s Wonderland<\/em> and <em>New Tales of the Borderlands<\/em>.
