Reddit exploded with posts titled things like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/PathOfExile2\/comments\/1jrzxej\/this_game_feels_like_a_massive_waste_of_time\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\">\u201cThis game feels like a massive waste of time\u201d<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/PathOfExile2\/comments\/1jrsx0y\/game_feels_miserable\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\">\u201cGame feels miserable\u201d<\/a>. Popular streamers <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/IWE7TB2V5RE\">rage-quit the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">In response, developer Grinding Gear Games issued several small patches to give players a fighting chance. Monsters lost some of their life, and some underperforming skills, like skeletal minions, were beefed up. But many players still don\u2019t think it\u2019s enough to fix the feeling that the game is unrewarding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Grinding Gear Games put up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pathofexile.com\/forum\/view-thread\/3746205\">a post<\/a> addressing the broader concerns with patch and what it plans on changing in the coming weeks, most notably the sluggish pacing of its campaign, which you\u2019re required to replay every time a new season drops. While some of the changes have already gone through, players are still struggling to find the patience to play the game long enough to reach its endgame dungeons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cI can absolutely tell you that our goal here was to nerf the things that were trivializing the endgame before you\u2019ve even managed to get your items and stuff like that,\u201d game director Johnathan Rogers said in an interview with streamer <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VImBtU3amXE\">Zizaran<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cThere were some blatant fuck-ups, speaking bluntly,\u201d game director Mark Roberts added, specifically calling out the underpowered skills that were quickly hotfixed. \u201cWe\u2019re firing from the hip a lot here and stuff like that we\u2019re like, \u2018Let\u2019s just get it in there, let\u2019s try it out, and see how people think and if it\u2019s bad we\u2019ll just undo it.\u2018\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cI think a running theme with <em>PoE 2<\/em> in general is that the target to hit is smaller [compared to <em>PoE 1<\/em>] because if we want the combat to be more engaging then that means there\u2019s a smaller target; it puts more pressure on the balance to be right,\u201d Rogers said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Rogers explained how he feels <em>PoE 1<\/em> rewards players who have spent thousands of hours mastering its systems and that <em>PoE 2<\/em> was designed to avoid that problem \u2014 it\u2019s just really hard to get right. At the same time, the game is meant to have the kind of deliberate, dodge-roll-heavy combat you\u2019d expect from a Soulslike.
