I&#8217;ve seen helldivers<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/helldivers-2-player-encounters-a-bug-that-gives-them-infinite-gas-and-havent-we-all-been-there\/\"> choke to death<\/a> on infinite gas bombs. I&#8217;ve seen bile titans brought down by<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/helldivers-2-player-yeets-a-charger-straight-through-a-bile-titans-face-ever-seen-a-charger-strategem-now-you-have\/\"> yeeting a charger through them<\/a>. But technology evolves rapidly in war, and a recent addition to Super Earth&#8217;s arsenal has unlocked whole new feats of valour from its citizens.<\/p>\n<p>That addition is the Lift-860 hover pack, which cruised into Helldivers 2 as part of the recent<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/third-person-shooter\/helldivers-2s-next-warbondll-let-you-be-a-real-space-cowboy-and-draw-on-those-automaton-scum-with-a-lever-action-rifle\/\"> Borderline Justice<\/a> warbond. A beefed-up version of the jump pack, the hover pack stratagem enables players to maintain their position in the air for a short duration.<\/p>\n<p>Like the jump pack, the hover pack is handy for quickly accessing higher vantage points or getting out of a tight spot, like evading a cluster of rapidly encroaching terminids. But one inventive helldiver, inspired by freedom, had a vision: what if you combined a hover pack with a flamethrower? More than that, what if you flew that combination straight at a bile titan&#8217;s face?<\/p>\n<p>The results of such an experiment were<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jgmgxp\/holy_mother_of_hover_pack\/\" target=\"_blank\"> recently posted to reddit<\/a>. Titled &#8216;holy mother of hover pack&#8217;, the short video clip shows a group of helldivers fleeing from an oncoming bile titan, when one brave soldier named cur1y_n3ctar suddenly splits from the pack. Ascending into the sky, cur1y flies between the bile titan&#8217;s front legs, and while still airborne, unleashes death warmed up to 800\u00b0C right into the creature&#8217;s maw.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-card\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jgmgxp\/holy_mother_of_hover_pack\">holy mother of hover pack<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\">r\/Helldivers<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/embed.redditmedia.com\/widgets\/platform.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The responses are, naturally, ecstatic. &#8220;Well, that was extremely metal&#8221; <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jgmgxp\/comment\/mj0njr8\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web3x&#038;utm_name=web3xcss&#038;utm_term=1&#038;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\">says <\/a> Good_Policy3529, while Nknk <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jgmgxp\/comment\/mj1mqv0\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web3x&#038;utm_name=web3xcss&#038;utm_term=1&#038;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\">astutely observes<\/a> &#8220;God, when this game is good it&#8217;s near unbeatable for organic cinematic moments.&#8221; But it&#8217;s bja276555 who gives this technique the name it deserves, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jgmgxp\/comment\/mj0on3k\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web3x&#038;utm_name=web3xcss&#038;utm_term=1&#038;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\">saying <\/a>&#8220;Ok, so dragon builds are a thing now&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In the time since the video was posted, more of the Helldivers 2 community<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Helldivers\/comments\/1jjt9h8\/the_hoverpack_takes_the_flamethrower_to_a_whole\/\" target=\"_blank\"> has discovered<\/a> the power of combining the flamethrower and the hover pack. While dragon build is the right name for this approach in my opinion, the community also refers to it as a &#8220;firefly build&#8221; named after Batman&#8217;s pyromaniac supervillain.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s fascinating this build should emerge days before the<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/action\/never-thought-id-go-back-helldivers-2-players-steel-themselves-to-return-to-the-site-of-its-most-infamous-battle-malevelon-creek\/\"> first anniversary of Malevelon Creek<\/a>, Helldivers 2&#8217;s most famous battle, often referred to as &#8220;robot Vietnam&#8221;. It looks increasingly likely that the game&#8217;s automaton faction will attack the Creek again on or around the anniversary date, this time with specialised flame units known as the incineration corps. Consequently, we could soon see a second Malevelon where the Helldivers fight fire with (flying) fire.
