There are other benefits, of course, including the boatload of content available from the official D&amp;D storefronts on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/dnd-dungeons-dragons\/444017\/dnd-beyond-homebrew-changes-canceled-fan-outcry\">D&amp;D Beyond<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/1\/13\/21064147\/dungeons-dragons-dungeon-masters-guild\">Dungeon Masters Guild<\/a>. But elsewhere on the internet you can also find things like free 3D-printable miniatures, including the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/cw\/mz4250\">mz4250<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Polygon profiled Miquel Zavala <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/4\/10\/21173630\/dungeons-and-dragons-free-3d-printing-files-miguel-zavala\">way back in 2020<\/a>, just after he had finished making his way through the original <em>Monster Manual<\/em> (2014), creating 3D-printable files of every creature in the book. Now he\u2019s well on his way through the new <em>Monster Manual <\/em>(2025). His latest creation looks absolutely magnificent.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/how-to-print-dds-new-gold-dragon-at-home-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/how-to-print-dds-new-gold-dragon-at-home-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">In an interview with Zavala on Friday, the digital artist said that the game\u2019s new art direction \u2014 led by Wizards of the Cost vice president and former <em>Magic: The Gathering <\/em>team member Jess Lanzillo and D&amp;D\u2019s head of art Josh Herman \u2014 has been challenging him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cThe artwork has gotten a lot more dynamic and a lot more action-oriented,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that there are some creatures that they create that I look at this as like, did they know that I exist and they just wanted to fuck with me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Outside the refreshed look for the original role-playing game\u2019s 50th anniversary, it\u2019s largely been changes in 3D printing technology that have pushed his skills the most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cI think the biggest change, obviously, is the fact that resin printing is now a thing,\u201d Zavala said, referring to a new breed of 3D printers that uses ultraviolet light and liquid resin to dramatically increase the fidelity of consumer-grade printers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cThat had to force me to increase the level of detail on the works that I\u2019ve done,\u201d he continued. \u201cIn the original <em>Monster Manual<\/em> release that I did five, seven years ago, it was mostly [designed for filament printers]. The details did not have to be [as] intense.
