Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em><\/a> is having a Totodile Community Day<\/strong> event on Saturday, March 22 from 2-5 p.m. in your local time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As expected with a Community Day event, Totodile will spawn in huge numbers with a high chance for it to appear shiny. There are also several other bonuses and perks, which we\u2019ve list out below.<\/p>\n

How do I catch a shiny Totodile?<\/h2>\n

As per old research by the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine<\/a>), Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re short on time or Pok\u00e9 Balls, you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Totodile to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren\u2019t shiny. Notably, any Totodile you\u2019ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.<\/p>\n

What Community Day move does Totodile\u2019s evolution learn?<\/h2>\n

If you evolve Croconaw <\/strong>into Feraligatr <\/strong>starting at 2 p.m. on March 22 until 10 p.m. on March 29 in your local time, it will learn the charged move Hydro Cannon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you miss out on evolving it during this period, you will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Hydro Cannon<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM<\/a> to get the move.<\/p>\n

How does Feraligatr do in the meta<\/h2>\n

Feraligatr is a solid water-type attacker in raids and gyms<\/strong>, even more so if you have a shadow Feraligatr. Set it up with Water Gun and Hydro Cannon<\/strong> for the most damage. While it is strong, it does teeter behind a lot of the other water-type starters, like Primarina, Swampert, and Greninja. If you don\u2019t like using shadows or Mega Evolutions, then Feraligatr is a pretty strong pick, though.<\/p>\n

Feraligatr is also<\/em> a menace in the Great and Ultra Leagues for PvP<\/strong>, so if you want to grab ones within the specific IV thresholds, that may not be a bad idea. You\u2019ll want to set your PvP Feraligatr up with Shadow Claw paired with Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
