Announced at the Future Game Show Spring Showcase, the <em>25th Anniversary Edition<\/em> brings a fresh coat of paint to the classic 1999 sci-fi horror game and will be the first classic System Shock title playable on consoles.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div>\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster - Release Date Reveal Trailer | PS5 &amp; PS4 Games\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cevZowWjKJk?rel=0\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" allowfullscreen allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">This effort isn\u2019t nearly as extensive as the excellent <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/23739112\/system-shock-remake-review-release-date\">System Shock<\/a><\/em> from 2023, but <em>System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Edition<\/em> still features a massive graphics overhaul with updated textures and ultrawide support, in addition to new audio recordings and a litany of quality-of-life improvements to make the game more palatable for modern audiences. These mods offer an excellent version of <em>System Shock 2<\/em>, but the process of getting everything running properly makes the experience relatively hostile to new players.
