In the lead-up to the Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows<\/em> launch on March 20, the fine folks at Ubisoft Brasil took it upon themselves to put together a special promotional video in the style of old-school tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider<\/em> and Super Sentai<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The video depicts Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows<\/em> protagonists Yasuke and Naoe, played by Brazilian social media personalities Ruan \u201cjogazulu\u201d Silva and Thais Matsufugi, respectively, as the stars of a fake television program titled Guerreiros das Sombras<\/em> (or Shadow Warriors<\/em> in English). As with any good tokusatsu, the samurai-kunoichi duo transforms from mild-mannered civilians into superpowered heroes to fight hordes of faceless baddies with practical explosions punctuating every blow, all set to a rocking theme song by Brazilian power metal icon Edu Falaschi.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve come back from school, called your friends from the street, grabbed your snack and turned on the TV,\u201d the video\u2019s description reads, according to rough translations from Brazilian Portuguese to English. \u201cIt\u2019s time for your favorite show\u2026 but this time, the adventure is in Feudal Japan!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ubisoft Brasil\u2019s tribute is so true to old-school tokusatsu that it even ends on a cliff-hanger, teasing an even tougher battle ahead for Yasuke and Naoe in the form of a giant, perhaps robotic enemy. The team also uploaded a version of the video playing on a chunky, sticker-covered CRT television<\/a> to really drive home its aesthetics. A 6-year-old Ian in some alternate universe somewhere is absolutely pumped to watch Guerreiros das Sombras<\/em> every weekday afternoon.<\/p>\n
