While pretty difficult to take on at first, its reappearance in Max Battles on March 8 and 9 should be accessible to more players \u2014 so long as you\u2019ve been catching some Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon here and there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Gigantamax Blastoise will still be tough to take on, so you\u2019ll want to be as prepared as possible to help out your fellow raiders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Below we list Gigantamax Blastoise\u2019s best counters and weaknesses in <em>Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>, as well as general battle tips for the tanky turtle.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"gigantamax-blastoise-weakness\">Gigantamax Blastoise weakness<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Being pure water-type, Blastoise has a two weaknesses: <strong>grass<\/strong>&#8211; and <strong>electric<\/strong>-type moves. Now that Max Battles have been around for a bit, there\u2019s actually a pretty decent spread of attackers you can use to help take this thing down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Blastoise will resist steel-, fire-, water-, and ice-type moves, so don\u2019t use those, unless you\u2019re tanking the turtle and are trying to build the max gauge.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"gigantamax-blastoise-best-counters\">Gigantamax Blastoise best counters<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That all being said, try to bring at least one of these attackers to deal the most damage:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Toxtricity <\/strong>with Spark<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Venusaur<\/strong> with Vine Whip<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Zapdos<\/strong> with Thunder Shock<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Rillaboom<\/strong> with Razor Leaf<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Toxtricity<\/strong> with Spark<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">For your tanks, you\u2019ll want to bring one or two of these with leveled up Max Guard to tank damage and build up your gauge:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Blastoise <\/strong>with Bite (Yes, lol.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Blastoise <\/strong>with Bite<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Venusaur<\/strong> with Vine Whip<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Venusaur<\/strong> with Vine Whip<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Rillaboom<\/strong> with Scratch<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Lapras<\/strong> with Water Gun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Yes, Rillaboom is listed in both sections with different moves. If you plan on using Rillaboom as a DPS, it will need Razor Leaf so it will be able to use Max Overgrowth. If you plan on using it as a tank, it will want Scratch, which builds up the max gauge faster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Even if you don\u2019t have these powered up, consider just bringing the&nbsp;<em>strongest<\/em>&nbsp;Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon you have. If you have a maxed out Dynamax Gengar and your Dynamax Rillaboom isn\u2019t leveled (and you don\u2019t have the means to power it up), just bring your Gengar.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\" id=\"general-gigantamax-blastoise-tips\">General Gigantamax Blastoise tips<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">If you\u2019ve been struggling in Max Battles, here\u2019s some general tips to survive \u2014 and make sure you\u2019re an asset to your team. Gigantamax battles involve way more strategy than the usual rampant tapping that you do in raids, so make sure to know what you\u2019re doing before jumping in.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make sure you have enough players.<\/strong>&nbsp;High-efficiency groups with maxed out investments can take down the Blastoise with fewer people, but practically, if you don\u2019t have hundreds of spare candy and even more Stardust laying around, this isn\u2019t going to be an option for you. Make sure you have as many people as possible to ensure that you get your tank turtle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t sleep on Max Spirit and Max Guard<\/strong>. Teams work best when there\u2019s a variety of moves, not just maxed-out attacks. Each player should bring Pok\u00e9mon with the defensive and healing moves unlocked as well. Max Guard will focus single-target damage towards you and reduce the damage taken; Max Spirit will heal the whole party. These moves are really important to make sure your damage-dealers can keep dishing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remember to swap to super effective moves when it\u2019s time to Dynamax<\/strong>. For&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/449273\/dynamax-pokemon-get-catch-max-battles\">Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>, their max moves are determined by whatever type their fast move is. This means if you have a Darmanitan with Fire Fang, it will know Max Flare. A Gengar with Lick will know Max Phantasm. Take advantage of this and make sure to swap to a Pok\u00e9mon that will deal super effective damage to your target before Dynamaxing, if you can.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on your fast moves<\/strong>. You want to spam your fast moves to build up that Dynamax meter and often times, using your charge move is actually a DPS loss when compared to the damage you could be doing with your max move will be. Spam those attacks!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level up a few \u2018mons, but you don\u2019t have to go too hard<\/strong>. Depending on your group size, you absolutely do not need to max out all your Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon to level 40-50. While this will make it easier on the rest of your group, if this isn\u2019t an investment you can make, you don\u2019t have to stress about it. Power things up as high as you can afford to, but don\u2019t fret if you don\u2019t have a maxed out Pok\u00e9mon.<\/li>\n<li>That all being said,&nbsp;<strong>make sure to come as prepared as you can be<\/strong>. This is a team effort and there\u2019s a chance that a full group of four can still fail. Do not just bring your unleveled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/447546\/to-the-max-special-research-quest-rewards\">Dynamax Wooloo<\/a>&nbsp;expecting a free ride to a powerful Pok\u00e9mon. (After all, if&nbsp;<em>everyone<\/em>&nbsp;does that, then you certainly won\u2019t clear the battle.) Again, you don\u2019t have to completely max out your Pok\u00e9mon, but it will be better for everyone involved if you bring something helpful to the table.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep your eye out for a shiny Blastoise!<\/strong>&nbsp;If you clear the raid, there is a chance that the Blastoise you catch will be shiny \u2014 which also means it\u2019ll be a guaranteed catch.
