{"id":1139966,"date":"2026-02-05T13:11:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T13:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/8rZDjK8PkbJDRi9rxMgNJW"},"modified":"2026-02-05T13:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T13:11:12","slug":"tony-hawks-pro-skater-3-4-remake-is-real-and-its-coming-in-july-with-new-skaters-parks-music-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcader.org\/news\/tony-hawks-pro-skater-3-4-remake-is-real-and-its-coming-in-july-with-new-skaters-parks-music-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Hawk&#8217;s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake is real, and it&#8217;s coming in July with new skaters, parks, music, and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D-PedsiljOc\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Two weeks after a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/sports\/sure-seems-like-the-new-call-of-duty-map-is-teasing-a-tony-hawks-pro-skater-game\/\">surprise tease<\/a> in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, it&#8217;s now official: Tony Hawk&#8217;s Pro Skater 3+4 is being &#8220;remade from the ground up&#8221; and will ollie into a 360 backside half-pipe faceplant boogaloo (or <em>whatever<\/em>) on July 8.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Hawk&#8217;s Pro Skater 3+4 is being developed by Iron Galaxy Studios in collaboration with Activision and, of course, Tony Hawk himself. The updated game will include the &#8220;classic content&#8221; of the original with additional content including &#8220;new skaters, gnarlier tricks, an even sicker soundtrack,&#8221; and all new skate parks. It will also feature cross-platform multiplayer for up to eight players.<\/p>\n<p>This has been a long time coming. The Call of Duty tease in February was hard to misinterpret as anything but confirmation, and Mr. Hawk himself dropped <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/sports\/tony-hawk-eats-magical-truth-telling-salad-immediately-confirms-he-and-activision-have-got-something-cooking-for-the-first-time-since-vicarious-visions-got-swallowed\/\">a giant hint<\/a> in September 2024 when he said that he and Activision were &#8220;working on something&#8221; that &#8220;fans will truly appreciate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Initially an Epic Games Store exclusive, Tony Hawk&#8217;s Pro Skater 1+2 came out in 2020 and was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/tony-hawks-pro-skater-1-2-review\/\">pretty fantastic<\/a>, but plans to follow it up with THPS 3+4 fizzled when developer Vicarious Visions was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/activision-turns-tony-hawk-12-developer-into-a-full-time-blizzard-support-studio\/\">folded into Blizzard<\/a> in 2021. But then Activision\u2014the company responsible for taking Vicarious Visions out behind the woodshed in the first place, remember\u2014couldn&#8217;t find anyone else it <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/more-tony-hawk-remakes-were-planned-but-then-shelved\/\">trusted to handle the remake<\/a>, so eventually everyone made a wet fart noise and dropped the whole thing. THPS 1+2 later came to Steam in October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Iron Galaxy is an interesting choice to pick up the slack. Founded in 2008, the studio released its first game, Wreckateer, in 2012 and followed that with Divekick, support for<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/killer-instinct\/\"> Killer Instinct<\/a>, and<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/extinction\/\"> Extinction<\/a>, which was not great. Its most recent game, the 2022 wrestling battle royale Rumbleverse, lasted just six months before it was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/rumbleverse-the-wrestling-battle-royale-is-shutting-down-only-six-months-after-launch\/\">shut down<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But it did what it did <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/rumbleverse-is-the-fresh-take-on-battle-royale-i-needed\/\">quite well<\/a>, and in a sad twist it was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/this-battle-royale-game-could-win-two-dice-awards-five-days-before-it-shuts-down\/\">nominated for two DICE awards<\/a>\u2014Fighting Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year\u2014just a couple weeks before the end-of-service announcement. (It won neither, for the record, but in another sad twist of irony, the Fighting Game of the Year title was claimed by Multiversus, which has since come to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/fighting\/warner-bros-says-thats-all-folks-for-multiversus-its-next-season-will-be-its-last-but-itll-be-playable-offline-for-the-foreseeable-future\/\">the end of the road<\/a> itself.) That gives me hope that Iron Galaxy, despite its struggles\u2014the studio laid off 66 employees only a month ago in what it said was a &#8220;last resort&#8221; effort to &#8220;enable our long-term
