Gillopods<\/strong> are a special kind of endemic life in Monster Hunter Wilds<\/a><\/em>. You\u2019ll need to capture<\/a> one as part of a side quest, \u201cDareel\u2019s Special Research Report,\u201d <\/strong>for Dareel at the Windward Plains base camp late in the game (after the credits and during the High Rank section).<\/p>\n

This is the fifth side quest in Dareel and Samin\u2019s ongoing feud \u2014 you\u2019ve already caught a tracktail lizard<\/a>, dapperwing<\/a>, ember rufflizard<\/a>, and a rime beetle<\/a>. Now, you need to find gillopods.<\/p>\n

Where to find gillopods in Monster Hunter Wilds<\/h2>\n

\"Monster<\/p>\n

Gillopods<\/strong> are a larger version of pillopods, and those only show up at one location in the Ruins of Wyveria that we\u2019ve been able to find. Head to the pop-up camp<\/a> at Area 2: Crumbling Structures<\/strong>. Head out through the tunnel and you\u2019ll be facing a carved stone wall that will most likely have several pillopods on it.<\/p>\n

Gillopods are a little larger and brighter than the average pillopod and have orange eyes.<\/p>\n

It seems like gillopods are most common during the environment event, \u201cWyvern\u2019s Wakening<\/strong>.\u201c Several story missions<\/a> lock you out of changing the time of day by resting<\/strong>, but if it\u2019s available, you can change the environment by resting in a tent or at your portable BBQ grill<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

How to catch a gillopod in Monster Hunter Wilds<\/h2>\n

\"Monster<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve spotted a rime beetle, all that\u2019s left is to capture them. Equip your capture net<\/a><\/strong> either from the item bar or from your Essential Items radial menu.<\/p>\n

With the new rectangle reticle, approach the gillopod (they don\u2019t really acknowledge your presence, so don\u2019t worry about stealth here) until the reticle turns yellow-orange and fire it. Just make sure you hit L2\/LT and not the usual Square\/X.<\/p>\n

With the quest complete, you\u2019ll have to wait a bit to get the next side quest in the series, \u201cSamin\u2019s Special Research Report,\u201d which has you track down a sandstar.<\/p>\n
