On Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/charlieINTEL\/status\/1894211182141091939\">Call of Duty news site CharlieIntel<\/a> noticed that Activision had added such a disclaimer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/1938090\/Call_of_Duty\/\">Call of Duty Steam page<\/a>. The note simply reads: \u201cOur team uses generative AI tools to help develop some in game assets.\u201d It appears as though the disclaimer was added on Jan. 27 and simply escaped notice until recent reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Players have long held concerns that generative AI content was being used in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/game\/call-of-duty-black-ops-6\/443261\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/game\/call-of-duty-black-ops-6\/443261\">Call of Duty: Black Ops 6<\/a><\/em>, with one notable example being a piece of art depicting a zombified Santa. This evil Claus had six fingers on one hand, an oddly shaped left hand, and a package that didn\u2019t quite make sense.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/call-of-duty-updated-with-generative-ai-disclosure-on-steam-page.png\" alt=\"A zombified Santa lunges toward the camera. In December 2024, developer The Indie Stone released a highly anticipated update for <em>Project Zomboid<\/em>, a popular zombie survival simulator. While fans were initially excited about the new features, that quickly turned into protests once players <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/ai-art-in-project-zomboids-update-sparks-community-outrage\/\">examined loading screen art and found clear signs of generative AI<\/a>. The Indie Stone quickly removed the art, which ended the furor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Players have become quick to raise the red flag if they believe generative AI has appeared in a popular title.
