Over the weekend, veteran game designer Greg Street of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23940126\/world-of-warcraft-league-of-legends-greg-street-ghostcrawler-new-mmo\">Fantastic Pixel Castle<\/a>, which is making an MMORPG with NetEase, said his studio is still working on its game, still hiring, and has \u201ca great relationship with NetEase and their full support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Other NetEase-backed studios are reporting similar status updates. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Tomasz Tinc, co-owner and chief publishing officer at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/22937193\/witcher-3-director-forms-new-studio-rebel-wolves\">Rebel Wolves<\/a>, indicated on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:7299704037124247552\/\">LinkedIn<\/a> that he does not expect NetEase\u2019s retreat from overseas studios to affect development of <em>The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em>, an action role-playing game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201c<em>The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em>\u2019s production is fully funded,\u201d Tinc wrote, \u201cand we work alongside our partners and friends from Bandai Namco, our game&#8217;s global publisher, to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Tinc explained that NetEase is a minority shareholder in Rebel Wolves, and that the \u201cvast majority\u201d of the studio\u2019s ownership \u201crests in the hands of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and other studio co-owners, all of whom are employed by Rebel Wolves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Paul Ehreth, creative director at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anchor-point.com\/\">Anchor Point Studios<\/a>, said Monday on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/paule_anchor-point-studios-official-site-activity-7299799171086086145-T1qI\">Linkedin<\/a> that his studio has not been affected and is \u201cstill full steam ahead building our game.\u201d Anchor Point is developing an unannounced action-adventure game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cSo far, NetEase has been a great partner for us, giving us creative control and development support, and we look forward to the prospect of shipping an exceptional game together in the future,\u201d Ehreth wrote. \u201cWhile it may be stormy seas at the moment for the industry, we are very much still growing, and we have several positions open for anyone looking for a safe harbor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">In an email to Polygon, Greg Street said that Fantastic Pixel Castle is \u201caggressively working on\u201d its MMORPG <em>Ghost<\/em>, adding, \u201cI feel like we are in a stronger position now because NetEase has clearly been evaluating their portfolio and decided our game is one they want to focus on.\u201d A public playtest for <em>Ghost<\/em> is scheduled for this week, Street said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">While NetEase may be scaling back, it appears that some international projects may come to fruition as planned. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/news\/528633\/netease-cutbacks-ghost-mmo-rebel-wolves-anchor-point\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of recent reports of Chinese publisher NetEase pulling funding and cancelling games, some studios funded by the maker of Marvel Rivals and Eggy Party have spoken up to calm fears that they too might be affected.
