We\u2019re getting more new Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/a> \u2014<\/em> beyond just the live-action Netflix adaptation, of course. <\/p>\n

On Thursday, Nickelodeon announced a new Avatar show<\/a> called Avatar: Seven Havens<\/em>, set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em>. The show is created (and co-executive produced) by Avatar<\/em> co-creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. And, luckily, we\u2019re going to be getting a lot of it: The show has already been picked up for 26 episodes. Like The Legend of Korra<\/em>, those will be split into two 13-episode seasons. (So far those are just titled Book 1 and Book 2.)<\/p>\n

The series description is scant, but follows life in the Four Kingdoms (the ones that lived in harmony, until the Fire Nation attacked<\/a>, yada yada yada) after<\/em> the events of Korra<\/em>. Nickelodeon\u2019s release describes the plot as: <\/p>\n

\n

Avatar: Seven Havens <\/em>is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra \u2013 but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization\u2019s last strongholds collapse.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Considering the state Korra left the world in<\/a> by integrating the spirit world and the main one, there are a lot of interesting places for Seven Havens<\/em> to go. And Konietzko and DiMartino are excited to take it there across two seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we created the original series, we never imagined we\u2019d still be expanding the world decades later,\u201d DiMartino and Konietzko said in a statement. \u201cThis new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.\u201d <\/p>\n

The life of Avatar: The Last Airbender as a franchise has been complicated. For as many projects as we\u2019ve gotten \u2014 an ill-received live-action film adaptation<\/a>, Korra<\/em> as a bit of a cult hit<\/a>, a live-action Netflix show in 2024<\/a>, a handful of books<\/a> and games \u2014\u00a0there are just as many projects still in the hopper<\/a>. Nickelodeon\u2019s announcement also teased the forthcoming film adaptation of later in Aang\u2019s life<\/a>, coming to theaters on Jan. 30, 2026. The voice cast for that includes Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Rom\u00e1n Zaragoza, and Eric Nam.<\/p>\n
