However, you can\u2019t parry out of the gate in <em>Avowed<\/em> because you need to unlock it first, of course.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Here\u2019s how to unlock the Parry ability and <strong>how to parry in <em>Avowed<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to unlock Parry in Avowed<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/how-to-parry-in-avowed-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">To parry, you must first <strong>unlock the Parry ability in the first row of the ranger tree<\/strong>. You can unlock Parry once you place at least one ability point in either of the fighter, ranger, or wizard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/avowed-guides\/524636\/best-abilities-class-trees-skills\">class ability<\/a> trees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">You can place three ability points into Parry to gain multiple effects:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rank 1<\/strong> \u2014 Unlocks Parry<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rank 2<\/strong> (level 5) \u2014 Increases Parry efficiency by 25%, dealing greater stun when parrying enemies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rank 3<\/strong> (level 8) \u2014 Increases Parry efficiency by 50%, dealing greater stun when parrying enemies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to parry in Avowed<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">After you\u2019ve placed at least one ability point in Parry, you can now<strong> parry by pressing the right mouse button or LT on controller as an enemy\u2019s attack is about to hit you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Unfortunately, this does mean that you won\u2019t be able to use two one-handed melee weapons, as <strong>you can only block when your off hand is empty or holding a shield<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/how-to-parry-in-avowed.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"GIF: Obsidian Entertainment\/Xbox Game Studios via Polygon\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">A successful parry will play a clanking sound as the attack is deflected by your weapon and stagger the enemy.
