Griffin\u2019s comment was a reply to an X user<\/a> asking for an update after Hollow Knight<\/em> speedrunner fireb0rn doused a growing conspiracy theory in the game\u2019s community that a release date announcement was on its way. As Hollow Knight<\/em> fans are wont to do, they thought they cracked the code on why developer William Pellen\u2019s alt X account<\/a> changed its profile picture and teased that \u201csomething big is coming.\u201d It turns out, nothing big was coming after all.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s back to waking up every day and hoping there\u2019s news about the hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2017 action game. Ever since Silksong<\/em> was announced in 2019, its fans have been searching for signs that its coming out. The community is so rabid, it\u2019s basically a meme<\/a> at this point. Not a major game announcement goes by without fans desperately hoping that Silksong<\/em> will miraculously show up. The game\u2019s subreddit<\/a> is like watching the GIF of It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia\u2019s<\/em> Charlie Day<\/a> hysterically explaining the patterns he found in a bunch of letters pinned to a wall. The game needs to come out if only to give these people something else to do.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, it won\u2019t be long. The last we heard is the game was planned to release in 2023, but was delayed to 2024<\/a>. Obviously it didn\u2019t make that date either, but at least we know it\u2019s still on the way. Get ready for another spark of speculative hype in April when we\u2019ll get the first Switch 2 Nintendo Direct<\/a> presentation. And if that\u2019s not fruitful, there\u2019s always Summer Games Fest.<\/p>\n
