It\u2019s making its debut during Max Monday on Jan. 20 from 6-7 p.m. and will be available afterwards until Jan. 27 when Dynamax Zapdos will debut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">While it\u2019s likely that Dynamax Articuno won\u2019t be as difficult as Gigantamax Battles, it still will likely put up a fight, so we\u2019re here to help you out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Below, we list out some general Max Battle tips and counters for Dynamax Articuno in&nbsp;<em>Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">Dynamax Articuno weakness<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Articuno is ice- and flying-type, so it has a plethora of weaknesses to take advantage of. It\u2019s weak against <strong>rock<\/strong>-, <strong>steel<\/strong>-, <strong>fire<\/strong>-, and <strong>electric<\/strong>-type moves. Under normal circumstances, the best move type to use would be rock-type, since it\u2019ll do even more damage since it\u2019s strong against both ice- and flying-type, <em>but<\/em> there\u2019s not any Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon that have rock-type Dynamax moves (as of writing this).<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">On the other hand, Articuno will resist bug- and grass-type moves, so stay away from those.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">Dynamax Articuno best counters<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">With the above in mind, there\u2019s a few counters to bring to Articuno. We recommend the following to focus on&nbsp;<strong>offensive&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/old.reddit.com\/r\/TheSilphRoad\/comments\/1hwzlox\/dynamax_articuno_how_to_prepare_for_it\/\">moves<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gigantamax\/Dynamax Charizard<\/strong> with Dragon Breath<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gigantamax\/Dynamax Toxtricity<\/strong> with Spark<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Cinderace<\/strong> with Fire Spin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Note that Dynamax Articuno can have Ancient Power, which will dish out some serious damage against Charizard. Keep your Charizard in your wings and consider only bringing it out to Dynamax, while other tankier Pok\u00e9mon absorb the damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">As for defense, you should bring the following with Max Guard:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gigantamax\/Dynamax Blastoise<\/strong> with Water Gun<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gigantamax Lapras<\/strong> with Water Gun<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamax Metagross<\/strong> with Bullet Punch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">There still aren\u2019t too many ideal Pok\u00e9mon to use as&nbsp;<strong>healers<\/strong>, since Max Spirit wants you to use high-HP Pok\u00e9mon.&nbsp;If you have a Blastoise or Lapras built out, you can teach them healing moves in the meantime to help out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Even if you don\u2019t have these powered up, consider just bringing the&nbsp;<em>strongest<\/em>&nbsp;Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon you have. If you have a maxed out Dynamax Gengar and your Dynamax Charizard isn\u2019t leveled (and you don\u2019t have the means to power it up), just bring your Gengar.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">General Max Battle tips<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">If you\u2019ve been struggling in Max Battles, here\u2019s some general tips to survive \u2014 and make sure you\u2019re an asset to your team. While Gigantamax Battles are tough, a Legendary Max Battle shouldn\u2019t be <em>as<\/em> tough as that. You can slack a <em>little<\/em>, but you should still heed our advice:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make sure you have enough players.<\/strong>&nbsp;High-efficiency groups with maxed out investments can take down the Articuno with fewer people, but practically, if you don\u2019t have hundreds of spare candy and even more Stardust laying around, this isn\u2019t going to be an option for you. Make sure you have as many people as possible to ensure that you get your musically inclined cruise ship-shell creature.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t sleep on Max Spirit and Max Guard<\/strong>. Teams work best when there\u2019s a variety of moves, not just maxed-out attacks. Each player should bring Pok\u00e9mon with the defensive and healing moves unlocked as well. Max Guard will focus single-target damage towards you and reduce the damage taken and Max Spirit will heal the whole party, so these moves are really important to make sure your damage-dealers can keep dishing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remember to swap to super effective moves when it\u2019s time to Dynamax<\/strong>. For&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/449273\/dynamax-pokemon-get-catch-max-battles\">Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>, their max moves will be whatever type their fast move is. This means if you have a Metagross with Meteor Mash, it will know Max Steelspike. A Gengar with Shadow Claw will know Max Phantasm. Take advantage of this and make sure to swap to a Pok\u00e9mon that will deal super effective damage to your target before Dynamaxing, if you can.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on your fast moves<\/strong>. You want to spam your fast moves to build up that Dynamax meter and often times, using your charge move is actually a DPS loss when compared to the damage you could be doing with your max move will be. Spam those attacks!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level up a few \u2018mons, but you don\u2019t have to go too hard<\/strong>. Depending on your group size, you absolutely do not need to max out all your Dynamax Pok\u00e9mon to level 40-50. While this will make it easier on the rest of your group, if this isn\u2019t an investment you can make, you don\u2019t have to stress about it. Power things up as high as you can afford to, but don\u2019t fret if you don\u2019t have a maxed out Pok\u00e9mon.<\/li>\n<li>That all being said,&nbsp;<strong>make sure to come as prepared as you can be<\/strong>. This is a team effort and there\u2019s a reason why groups of 30-40 people can still fail. Do not just bring your unleveled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/pokemon-go-guide\/447546\/to-the-max-special-research-quest-rewards\">Dynamax Wooloo<\/a>&nbsp;expecting a free ride to a powerful Pok\u00e9mon. (After all, if&nbsp;<em>everyone<\/em>&nbsp;does that, then you certainly won\u2019t clear the battle.) Again, you don\u2019t have to completely max out your Pok\u00e9mon, but it will be better for everyone involved if you bring something helpful to the table.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep your eye out for a shiny Articuno!<\/strong>&nbsp;If you clear the raid, there is a chance that the Lapras you catch will be shiny \u2014 which also means it\u2019ll be a guaranteed catch.
