The partnership means Skybound, a company that\u2019s no stranger to promoting horror media, will assist in marketing and distribution with hopes that the game has the potential to perhaps grow into a broader multimedia franchise.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>Skybound is known as the company behind\u00a0all things <\/span><\/span><span><span>The Walking Dead,<\/span><\/span><span><span> but it has expanded into gaming with\u00a0Skybound Games. When Telltale Games <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2018\/09\/21\/narrative-adventure-studio-telltale-games-essentially-closes-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collapsed<\/a> in 2018, the publisher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2018\/10\/06\/skybound-games-finishing-telltales-the-walking-dead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">picked up the pieces<\/a> of the then in-progress The Walking Dead: The Final Season and finished the remaining episodes with help from members of the original development team. While Skybound also helps distribute games such as Slime Rancher and the enhanced Baldur\u2019s Gate titles, The Callisto Protocol is the biggest blockbuster it has attached itself to yet.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>\u201cStriking Distance Studios has one goal with The Callisto Protocol &#8211; to make one of the most terrifying games of all time,\u201d said Dead Space creator Glen Schofield, CEO of Striking Distance Studios. \u201cSkybound Entertainment is unrivaled in the worlds of sci-fi and horror storytelling, and will be an incredible partner for Krafton and Striking Distance Studios as we bring the world of The Callisto Protocol to life in games and beyond.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>\u201cThe team at Striking Distance Studios are the video game industry\u2019s best at creating blockbuster games,\u201d said\u00a0Kirkman. \u201cThrough Skybound, <\/span><\/span><span><span>The Walking Dead<\/span><\/span><span><span> has expanded from its original comic book to multiple television series, books, video games, merchandise, and more, and we can\u2019t wait to explore similar possibilities for The Callisto Protocol with Skybound\u2019s multi-platform expertise. We\u2019re excited to be working on this IP alongside the game\u2019s publisher, Krafton.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The Callisto Protocol turned heads when it debuted during the 2020 Game Awards. The terrifying looking game is a third-person sci-fi horror adventure set on a prison colony located on Jupiter&#8217;s moon, Callisto, in 2030. Perhaps the wildest aspect of the game is that it\u2019s actually set in the same universe as PlayerUnknown\u2019s Battlegrounds (the two games share a publisher, Krafton, founded by PUBG developer Bluehole), though Schofield has said there will be little connection between the two games outside of a few small references.
