Primeval Law makes it so that the opponent can\u2019t evolve their active Pok\u00e9mon as long as Aerodactyl ex is in play. While this isn\u2019t the end of the world for current top tier cards like Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex, which require no evolving, and doesn\u2019t affect benched Pok\u00e9mon, its potential for psychological damage is matched only by an Aerodactyl card that already exists in the mobile game.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/pokemon-tcg-pockets-first-expansion-firmly-establishes-aerodactyl-as-the-trolls-best-friend-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net\/wiki\/Aerodactyl_(Genetic_Apex_210)\">original Aerodactyl card<\/a> from <em>Pocket<\/em>\u2019s initial Genetic Apex expansion isn\u2019t nearly as strong as its upcoming counterpart. It only has 100 HP and its one attack doesn\u2019t even do any damage. But that attack, Primal Wingbeat, can send an opposing Pok\u00e9mon packing all the way back to the player\u2019s deck with a coin flip, negating its evolution and energy acquisition up to that point. Again, this alone isn\u2019t going to win a game unless the opponent was hit with bad luck and unable to play at least one benched Pok\u00e9mon. It can, however, be a devastating blow to someone who\u2019d spent the last several turns building up a Charizard ex and was getting ready to Burninate the countryside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">I don\u2019t see competition as just about winning. It\u2019s probably the fighting game player in me, but sometimes making the game absolutely miserable for my opponent is just as good a feeling, if not better. As such, I see a lot of potential in a deck fielding both Aerodactyl and Aerodactyl ex. It won\u2019t net me a ton of wins, but when it works, it\u2019ll definitely make some folks close the <em>Pok\u00e9mon Trading Card Game Pocket<\/em> app for a little while. Maybe they\u2019ll even give up on the game entirely.
