Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Lan (Daniel Henney) figured out what life looks like after she loses connection to the True Source (and then gets it back again). Rand (Josha Stradowski) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23854425\/the-wheel-of-time-season-2-impressions\">went on a journey to figure out whether he could really handle all his power<\/a>. Egwene (Madeleine Madden) was trapped by the Seanchan as a damane, while Nynaeve (Zo\u00eb Robins) broke free of her own block to her potential. Meanwhile Mat (D\u00f3nal Finn) and Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) found their own connections to the supernatural, and untapped abilities that might come in handy in the ongoing fight against the Dark One.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s all before we get to that final big battle, where pretty much every force on the continent converges in a fight against each other, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23800540\/wheel-of-time-season-2-trailer-release-date\">with Seanchan<\/a> and White Cloaks turning on each other, Ishamael (Fares Fares) coming after Rand again, and our intrepid heroes stuck in the middle. The developments in that single hour dramatically reset the board for season 3 \u2014 just in time for a new villain to show up. (This is Robert Jordan\u2019s Wheel of Time series, after all! Not a moment to rest for these heroes.)<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, we know a little bit about what\u2019s coming down the pike for <em>The Wheel of Time<\/em> the show, along with new casting and even a trailer and release date. Here\u2019s everything we know so far: <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"FB1Jjc\">Is Wheel of Time season 3 happening?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes. In fact, that was first <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/07\/the-wheel-of-time-renewed-season-3-amazon-1235074082\/\">announced all the way back in July 2022<\/a>, a full year before season 2 would even debut. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is there a trailer for Wheel of Time season 3?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">There is a teaser trailer, giving us at least a glimpse of what Moiraine and co. are up against in the third season \u2014 particularly her concern that in the \u201cthousands\u201d of futures she\u2019s peered into, the only way Rand comes out alive is if she dies.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div>\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Wheel of Time - Season 3 Official Teaser | Prime Video\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/erxeLAg85fg?rel=0\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" allowfullscreen allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tLhYwi\">When will Wheel of Time season 3 come out?<\/h2>\n<p>At CCXP 2024 in S\u00e3o Paolo, Brazil, showrunner Rafe Judkins finally gave the word, announcing the show would premiere on March 13, 2025 (a Thursday, if you\u2019re curious). The show will have three episodes available the first week, with one episode per week after that.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">Who is joining Wheel of Time season 3?<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/all-the-wheel-of-time-season-3-news-weve-heard-so-far.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"Shohreh Aghdashloo, as seen on &lt;em&gt;The Expanse&lt;\/em&gt; (there are no photos of her in &lt;em&gt;The Wheel of Time&lt;\/em&gt; yet, but you see it, right?)\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Along with the returning cast for <em>The Wheel of Time<\/em>, Prime Video has announced a new antagonist for us all to welcome: Elaida do Avriny a\u2019Roihan, who will be played by Shohreh Aghdashloo, of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/22826180\/expanse-season-6-review\">The Expanse<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/dc\/473788\/penguin-mushroom-bliss-episode-real\">The Penguin<\/a><\/em> fame. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">For those not familiar with the book, Elaida is an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah. In the third season, she\u2019ll be returning to the tower after a long time away and (who\u2019s surprised) has some beef with Moiraine. As Prime Video puts it: <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Elaida is a ruthlessly powerful [\u2026] as proficient in politicking as she is in channeling. &nbsp;She has a deep history with Moiraine (Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and scores to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower. Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means, and is willing to do anything to achieve what she envisions to be the greater good.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">So what does that mean for our fair heroes and the world of <em>The Wheel of Time<\/em> going into season 3? So glad you asked\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hGqSQM\">What will Wheel of Time season 3 be about?<\/h2>\n<p>Given that season 2 covered the second and third books of Robert Jordan\u2019s book series, Judkins has confirmed season 3 of <em>The Wheel of Time<\/em> will pick up with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/07\/the-wheel-of-time-renewed-season-3-amazon-1235074082\/\">the fourth book, <em>The Shadow Rising<\/em><\/a>,<em> <\/em>at least. That being said, it\u2019s not clear how far into the next book the show will go.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter alignnone\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019ve always said that people grew up with the books. That the tone and storytelling and emotions of the first book progress and mature until you reach the incredible depths of the final books. I hope the show is the same. S3 is even more sophisticated and rich and deep than S2<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Rafe Judkins (@rafejudkins) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rafejudkins\/status\/1707079524897247352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 27, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Like in the show, <em>The Shadow Rising<\/em> picks up with all of our major characters in the same place, and Rand having embraced his destiny as the Dragon Reborn. Accompanied by Moiraine, Rand heads out to the Aiel Waste, where he will prove he is who he says he is, or else never return.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of Elaida will certainly bring some upheaval to the Aes Sedai\u2019s stability; (minor book spoilers) she has an eye on Siuan\u2019s seat and an ax to grind. And not only will Siuan be on her list, but no doubt powerful newbies like Egwene and Rand. Elaida wants power, she knows how to get it, and she believes she is doing it all for the right reasons. <\/p>\n<p><em>The Wheel of Time<\/em> season 3 will backtrack a bit, too, getting to some storylines from the second and third books that the show hasn\u2019t quite made it to already. In an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/Tor.com\">Tor.com<\/a>, Judkins also revealed that we can expect Rand to start his sword training with Lan in the near future, and that his face-off with Turak, a favorite moment for book fans, is on the way too.<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming season will also give us more information on what exactly Mat is up to with his <a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/wheel-of-time-season-2-finale-rafe-judkins-interview\/\">special horn<\/a>, and maybe even meet a few <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/tv\/the-wheel-of-time-showrunner-forsaken-whats-coming-season-3\/\">Forsaken who have been hiding in plain sight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"txBkyV\">Who is Moghedien, who Lanfear meets at the end of the season 2 finale?<\/h2>\n<p><em>Shadow Rising<\/em> is also when Jordan started getting into more of the Forsaken, something Judkins has said he\u2019s excited for the opportunity to do. And season 2 teases that with Moghedien, played by Laia Costa, showing up to scare the bejeezus out of Lanfear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoursing out of the Forsaken is something we think a lot about [\u2026] who do you meet when, how do they function in the story?\u201d Judkins told Polygon. \u201cWhen is it exactly the right amount of Forsaken for the audience to be totally 100% in love with each of them? And when is it too many Forsaken that are operational at the same time that it starts to get a little messy and confusing? It\u2019s something that for us we pay a lot of attention to because [\u2026] any scene that any of the Forsaken are in should be impactful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so, the reason we did that Moghedien scene was really that you feel the impact of the other Forsaken right at the end, even just feeling Lanfear\u2019s fear \u2014 like, a character that you haven\u2019t seen be afraid the entire season suddenly afraid of someone is a great way to be introduced to how the Forsaken function in the rest of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1JcpMh\">Should I read the books while I wait for Wheel of Time season 3?<\/h2>\n<p>Look, we\u2019re not going to tell you whether you should or shouldn\u2019t read a 14-book series. That\u2019s between you and your god. The Prime Video series is almost certainly going to continue sticking to the books (mostly), but that many books is quite a bit of reading to do.
