Team Asobi is releasing a free holiday-themed level for its beloved 3D platformer, Astro Bot<\/a><\/em>, this week. It\u2019s called \u201cWinter Wonder\u201d and it will be available to players who have completed the game on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

The developers didn\u2019t reveal too much about the update, but wrote in a PlayStation blog<\/a> that players should expect a \u201cfun-filled level with shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots.\u201d The level was designed for children and adults alike so there won\u2019t be any \u201chair-pulling\u201d challenges in it.<\/p>\n

For years, Team Asobi has worked as Sony\u2019s go-to tech demo developer. The studio created games like Astro\u2019s Playroom<\/a><\/em>, which was released alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5 and served as a tech demo for the console, and Astro Bot Rescue Mission<\/a><\/em>, which demonstrated the PlayStation VR headset. <\/p>\n

In the fall of 2025, Team Asobi released Astro Bot<\/em>, a fully developed standalone 3D platforming game. Astro Bot was highly praised upon release. Polygon\u2019s Oli Welsh described it as a \u201cNintendo-tier platformer<\/a>\u201d and it\u2019s nominated in the coveted Game of the Year category at The Game Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A post on the PlayStation blog said the team is releasing the additional level to show appreciation for the warm reception from fans and critics.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince releasing Astro Bot earlier this year on PlayStation 5, we have been submerged by lovely comments from you and the PlayStation community, and we are delighted with the critical response to the game all over the world.\u201d Team Asobi studio director Nicolas Doucet said, \u201cFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for showing your appreciation. It truly means a lot to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
