The studio referenced the games when it announced the end of its <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/uh-oh-bulletstorm-studio-and-take-two-have-an-unexpected-breakup\/\"><u>publishing deal with Take-Two Interactive<\/u><\/a> in 2022, saying it would self-publish both. But it&#8217;s had a rough time of things since then: Project Dagger, which it had been developing in partnership with Take-Two since 2020, ran into trouble in 2023 and was eventually <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/fps\/bulletstorm-studios-mysterious-project-dagger-is-officially-dead\/\"><u>axed earlier this year<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Layoffs suck, and the decimation of the videogame industry we&#8217;ve witnessed over the past two years is an ongoing indictment of executive leadership virtually across the board. But as we said last week when <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/more-than-300-game-developers-lost-their-jobs-in-one-day-just-three-weeks-before-christmas\/\"><u>Ubisoft, Torn Banner, and Sweet Bandits<\/u><\/a> imposed layoffs of their own\u2014which came just weeks after layoffs at other studios including <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/steamworld-dig-developer-lays-off-80-100-employees-and-cancels-some-in-development-games-to-ensure-long-term-sustainability-and-resilience\/\"><u>Thunderful<\/u><\/a>, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/former-bioware-boss-casey-hudson-is-closing-the-studio-he-launched-in-2021-without-releasing-a-single-game\/\"><u>Humanoid Origin<\/u><\/a>, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/unknown-9-awakening-studio-makes-major-layoffs-just-a-month-after-the-games-release\/\"><u>Reflector Entertainment<\/u><\/a>, and <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/rpg\/bioware-veteran-mac-walters-will-pause-operations-at-his-new-studio-after-netease-ends-funding-just-1-year-after-it-was-founded\/\"><u>Worlds Untold<\/u><\/a>, and just before layoffs at <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/december-gets-even-worse-as-friday-the-13th-developer-illfonic-lays-off-employees\/\"><u>Illfonic<\/u><\/a> and <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/gaming-industry\/life-is-strange-double-exposure-developer-deck-nine-lays-off-staff-for-the-second-time-this-year\/\"><u>Deck Nine<\/u><\/a>, in case there was any doubt that there&#8217;s something very wrong here\u2014the timing of these cuts, which come just 15 days before Christmas, makes them especially ugly.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the second round of layoffs at People Can Fly in 2024\u2014the first happened in January, when <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/another-bunch-of-game-studios-have-laid-off-employees-and-were-not-even-out-of-january-yet\/\"><u>more than 30 people<\/u><\/a> working on yet another project,
