Lilo & Stitch<\/a><\/em> is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, and a big part of that is its very distinct style. Disney\u2019s animation usually keeps within the same house style, but Lilo & Stitch<\/em> was a little oddball made in Disney\u2019s now defunct Florida animation studio \u2014 a labor of love from directors Chris Sanders<\/a> and Dean DeBlois<\/a> \u2014 so it was able to get a bit weird.<\/p>\n

Alas, the Disney live-action remake machine comes for all movies in the end, so it seems, and Lilo & Stitch<\/em> is one of two live action reduxes of Disney animated movies coming out next year. We\u2019ve previously seen glimpses of the beloved blue alien before, but here he is destroying a sandcastle version of the iconic Disney logo! Adorable!<\/p>\n

Like the How to Train Your Dragon<\/a> <\/em>live-action trailer that came out last week, the best-looking part of this live-action teaser\u2026 is actually the animated component. Though, to be fair, Disney hasn\u2019t really revealed much more than just Stitch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And he does look pretty good, all things considered, but I guess I\u2019m just curious about how the gorgeous watercolors of Lilo & Stitch <\/em>will translate to live action. The answer is, they probably won\u2019t<\/em>, but hey \u2014 a gal can dream! <\/p>\n

The new movie comes from Marcel the Shell With Shoes On<\/em> director Dean Fleischer Camp. Sanders returns to the role of Stitch, with newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, and Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen voicing aliens Jumba and Pleakley, respectively.<\/p>\n

The new Lilo & Stitch <\/em>comes out on May 23, 2025. <\/p>\n
