If you continue to use them, they\u2019ll degrade even further and become broken.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">To stop that from happening, you can visit a <strong>technician<\/strong>, which is indicated by a little wrench icon on your map in any major town. The first technician you\u2019ll meet is in Zalissya, the first village you come across in <em>STALKER 2<\/em> (and also where you\u2019ll start \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/guides\/483077\/stalker-2-poppy-field-quest-walkthrough-pomor-mitay-root-cellar-location\">The Poppy Field<\/a>\u201d side quest). Here you can pay to upgrade your gear, but you can also pay him to repair it. The cost of repairs escalates more and more as your items break, so it\u2019s best to visit a technician regularly to keep one item from becoming too expensive to ever reasonably recover. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">What to do with broken gear in <em>STALKER 2<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/how-to-repair-broken-weapons-in-stalker-2-2.jpg\" alt=\"A player uses the menu to unload a weapon in STALKER 2\" title=\"A player uses the menu to unload a weapon in STALKER 2\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: GSC Game World via Polygon\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Unfortunately, the best thing to do with broken gear in <em>STALKER 2<\/em> is to not let it break in the first place. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Once an item has a red shield mark over it, it means the durability has fallen to such a degree that it\u2019s considered broken or near-broken. At this level, vendors will no longer buy these items off of you, and they\u2019ll be extremely costly to repair, requiring thousands of Coupons for a single item.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">When you find an item that\u2019s broken out in the wild, or an item that you\u2019re using becomes broken, your best bet is to unload the weapon (which is an option when hovering over it in your menu) to reclaim any ammo that\u2019s in it, drop it on the ground, and move on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">If a weapon or gear piece that\u2019s particularly precious to you breaks, throw it in your stash until you can afford to fix it.
