Pok\u00e9mon TCG Pocket<\/em> is a free-to-play game for mobile devices where players build a collection of digitized Pok\u00e9mon cards. The game allows players to open virtual versions of booster packs<\/a> and battle with the cards<\/a>. Each collector may open up to two packs of cards for free each day, but the game has various in-game purchases that allow players to open additional packs and unlock cosmetic items to show off their collections. The game\u2019s battle pass costs $9.99 per month and allows users to earn special rewards and open an additional pack of cards daily. <\/p>\n

On Sunday, the official social media account celebrated more than 10 million downloads<\/a> worldwide. That\u2019s nothing to scoff at, but Pok\u00e9mon games tend to set a high bar for themselves. For context, Niantic\u2019s Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> app generated $143 million in profit<\/a> for the 2016 fiscal year, and a single physical Pok\u00e9mon card can sell for more than $900 thousand at auction<\/a>. So we\u2019ll have to wait and see if TCG Pocket<\/em> will be able to reach those heights.<\/p>\n
